Change shipping address for international purchase
I made a purchase from the United Kingdom with shipping handled by eBay.
After paying, I realized that eBay had taken my default address, while I wanted the shipment sent to a different address. I contacted the seller, but he told me that with eBay international shipping, he doesn't ship to me but to eBay itself, which will then forward the package to me, so he can't do anything. How can I change the shipping address?

·2 years agoIf the seller doesn’t cancel the sale for you (they are not required to do so under eBay rules), depending on the case, various things can happen.
That the parcel is collected by whoever lives at that address.
That the parcel goes into storage because of an incorrect or incomplete address, or because the recipient is absent, since no one lives at that address.
When a parcel goes into storage, there are a few days to release the shipment.
The problem in this case is that you will have an international shipping code and not the tracking code applied by the carrier (for example SDA or Poste Italiane) for the final delivery.
In any case, from the international code tracking, you should be able to monitor the delivery outcome.
After the storage period (which varies from carrier to carrier), the parcel is returned to the sender.
When a parcel goes into storage, it is usually at a courier branch, and you can also go there yourself to pick it up in person.
But everything also depends on the address provided, if it’s not too far from where you currently live.
Kind regards.

·2 years agoAlmost impossible to ask the carrier to change the delivery address.
Much better (if the item hasn't been shipped yet) to ask the seller to cancel the order. Then you can change the address and buy again.

Ebay ships to the address that is in place at checkout.
On the checkout page, before clicking PAY, you have the chance to check the shipping address and possibly change it.
Once you have PAID, if you notice the mistake right away, you can contact the seller to tell them to block the shipment because of the wrong address.
If you let the seller ship the item then there is nothing more you can do.
Even contacting ebay won’t let you solve the problem.
Your best bet is to monitor the tracking and see if you can figure out who is handling the final delivery.
In that case you could contact the courier and try to have the shipping address changed.
Kind regards.
