Hi, I shipped a lamp, and it arrived damaged. The buyer is asking for a refund
Hi, I shipped a lamp that the buyer says arrived damaged. (He sends me the photos, but how am I supposed to know who damaged it????? At most, it could also have been the buyer!!!). Anyway, I trust the buyer’s good faith. Let’s say it happened during shipping... I packed it well but unfortunately if it happened, it happened. He’s asking for a full refund (€230). In my listing I had explicitly written "I am not responsible for any damage during shipping)." I think that by choosing to buy the item, the buyer accepted this condition? Who is right?

aside from the summary of the answer....have you ever read the Ebay rules in all these years?

Whatever you write, if it goes against the platform’s rules or policies, has no value at all.
You are in fact a professional seller (even if you use a private account) and therefore not only under eBay’s rules, but also under Italian law, you are responsible for the item until it is delivered into the buyer’s hands.
You can then try to get compensation from the courier, but it is almost impossible to prove that the packaging was adequate and that the damage is their responsibility.
So you will have to refund the buyer and decide whether or not to have the broken item returned to you by sending them a prepaid return label.
Sorry, but these are typical drawbacks of distance selling of fragile items.
