How can you set PayPal as a payment method?

Since my old credit card has expired, now I have to enter a new payment method. Paypal is among the accepted ones but it doesn't appear anywhere. Ebay's friendly AI keeps insistently asking for a new credit card. Human customer service seems to be gone now. So, what should I do?

If Paypal doesn't appear, it means you need to update the details to RECEIVE payments.
To receive payments for the items you sell, the ONLY OPTION is BANK TRANSFER, so you need to enter a COMPATIBLE, ACTIVE IBAN that matches the eBay account holder.

Provide what is needed to update and complete your eBay account.
If it asks for the credit card, human customer service no longer seems to be there. So, what to do?

Scroll to the bottom of the web page and you will find it says: ask us to call you.
Click it and a real operator will get in touch with you by calling the phone number you registered on your eBay account.

What happened is that since 2001, the year you signed up, a lot of things have changed...
A quick read of the new rules wouldn’t hurt; in any case PayPal is the ONLY payment method accepted by eBay, which however collects on your behalf and puts the money in your account with them.
That’s why you need to enter an IBAN (or a card with an IBAN enabled to receive money): the account must be in your name and you will also have to provide your tax details to confirm your identity for legal purposes.

In reality I can't. The only data entry method I see is a credit card and my credit card is no longer among the accepted ones

If you want to use PayPal for purchases, just select PayPal on the payment page.

To collect sales proceeds, you need a bank account or a card with an IBAN.
