Dispute over a package marked as delivered
Summary: versilia2000 shared that they were the victim of a scam on eBay, where a package ordered from China was falsely marked as delivered. They opened a dispute on eBay, but found that the platform does not verify whether delivery actually took place. eBay, in fact, follows a policy in which it does not handle shipping directly and relies only on the tracking provided by the seller. versilia2000 points out that the lack of protection is especially evident for orders under 550 euros.
I was the victim of a scam that’s going around on eBay where, if you buy from China, in 5 days they say they delivered the package; they give you a tracking code that shows it as delivered without telling you anything else. I open an eBay dispute and what do I discover? That eBay protects no one and doesn’t check whether the package actually arrived or not. I’m reporting communications and the receipt from eBay. As stated and as also available in our User Agreement, eBay never comes into contact with the goods themselves. This means that we do not arrange shipments and we are not aware of internal or additional information beyond what is communicated to us through the tracking number.
As also stated in our Customer Guarantee in the section "When a buyer does not receive an item":
Proof that delivery took place on time must contain the following elements:
Shipping code, which can be validated on the carrier’s website and which was uploaded to eBay before the latest expected delivery date
Status "delivered" or "delivery attempted" (or equivalent in the country where the item was delivered)
Date of delivery or attempted delivery
Recipient’s address, showing at least city/ZIP code (or international equivalent) and matching the address entered on the eBay Order Details page, and
Signature upon delivery, if the orders have a total cost equal to or greater than EUR 550. Scam because under 550

·3 months agoIf the proof of delivery has:
Status "delivered" or "delivery attempted"
Delivery date or attempted delivery date
Recipient's address, which shows at least city/postal code (or international equivalent) and matches the address entered on eBay's Order details page.
There is a carrier certifying a delivery to the buyer's address.
So how can eBay refund the buyer? The complaint must be filed against the carrier, if it certifies something false.
