Good morning
I’ll lay out my case: on 29 September, a package is sent to me from France, for a purchase made via eBay with the following tracking######## via the Hermes/HR Parcel courier, the package arrives in Italy on 10 October, where the tracking number changes and becomes ########. Through the parcelsapp website I follow the various developments until Friday the 13th, when the package goes out for delivery; there are two of us at home that day, at 12:36 it shows a failed delivery attempt due to recipient not present, the same thing happens on 17 October at 14:06, the next day the package is shown as being held. After quite a bit of difficulty I contact customer service, who apologize and announce a new delivery attempt, which happens, at their leisure, on 25 October starting at 12:39; obviously I am at home waiting, during the afternoon I notify them via the website form that I am at home and... nothing, yet another no-show. Now, since it is clear what the modus operandi of this...(company?firm?I feel like I would be insulting serious companies and firms by using this title for them) given the dozens if not hundreds of negative reviews available online, always with the same pattern, that is, fake deliveries, I am asking myself: should I considerthe package lost, as well as my money? I am writing to you mainly to make known the way Hr Parcel operates, so that others can avoid falling into their hands.
Regards.

·1 year agoI occasionally buy the same product from the States, which is shipped with HR Parcel and then delivered by BRT; I've never had any delivery problems.

·2 years agothe problem is that the seller should keep away, since it is he who arranges the shipment......the buyer, at most, can ask the seller before the purchase which courier they use; in this case, if an unwanted courier comes up, they should give up the purchase...

OP2 years agoIn fact, though I don't know if the seller knows who the package will then be handed over to once in Italy, anyway I wrote to him asking him to intervene with the agency he used and he didn't even reply to me.I'll take that into account when leaving feedback. Thanks for your intervention, bye.

·2 years agoOf course, it has to be assessed case by case (in practice, it would be utopian to make every possible and imaginable assumption, also considering the possible variations....) but if the French seller routinely ships abroad and sometimes has problems with that particular courier that may then hand it over to another one once it crosses the border (and so everything gets even more complicated....), he should have a doubt....
Anyway, it’s right to ask the seller for clarification, then of course you’ll personally assess the possible (or missing) response

·2 years agoThe seller usually knows nothing about these things but simply finds an inexpensive service on eBay France shipping and uses it.
The package leaves from Mondial Relais France, then goes to Germany where it is handled by Hermes, then goes to Hermes Italy which should refer to hs parcel which then passes it on to one of our national couriers. In case of transport damage, I can only imagine who passes the buck to whom. Our national couriers usually don't give a damn about this kind of shipment and don't really go out of their way.
In these cases the only sensible option is to ask for and insist on shipping with UPS or DHL, which are still available on eBay France shipping for only a few euros more.
They offer a single tracking shipment, fast delivery, and the guarantee of a package handled by a single operator.
Best regards.

OP2 years agoIn fact, I had never come across hr parcel or hermes, from now on I’ll check first, moreover the shipping wasn’t cheap either, I paid 15.30 euros, I’ve received items from France at lower rates.
Thanks,
Have a nice day.

·2 years agoI had seen some time ago that the UPS shipping rates on eBay France’s shipping manager are very similar to those on the Italian shipping manager; we’re talking about a cost of 12 / 15 euros to ship 1 to 3 kg of goods in Europe with UPS.
The advantage of mondial relay is there when shipping very heavy parcels (over 20 or 30 kg); in those cases the savings become quite clear, but if we’re talking about parcels up to 10 kg, in my opinion it’s not worth it.
Kind regards.

OP2 years agoIn fact, but probably in France they do a better job, and for them it's just a courier like any other, the problem arises when the package is entrusted for the final leg to an Italian courier.

·2 years agoWhen a little item from China paid for at 0.78 euros with FREE shipping back in 2021 (when no import fees were still being charged) arrived on Italian soil, it was handled by Poste Italiane, which for handling this package in our country didn't ask us recipients for anything.
A shipping service that could be compared to posta4, which cost more than double what we paid for the shipping + the item.
So I assume that the post office offers these services under some kind of agreement and in these cases very likely they don't have a direct profit.
I think it's more or less the same for couriers; otherwise, in the case of HR parcell, if the service payment had been required in full from all the couriers that took charge of the package in the various territories of competence, shipping costs would have become outrageous.
Logic leads me to think that these intermediaries, having to provide the service anyway by agreement, do not do it in an IMPECCABLE manner; for example, the courier doesn't make much of an effort to find the recipient, or maybe they don't make a second delivery attempt, or maybe they don't handle storage very well, etc.
For this reason I recommended asking the seller for a single INTERNATIONAL courier (if possible) so as to bypass / overcome this kind of issue caused by handling by many different couriers.
Kind regards.

·2 years agoGood morning gattoditrullo
I had to deal with a shipment from France through this shipping service and on that occasion I wrote this post
https://community.ebay.it/t5/Supporto-Tra-Utenti/Acquisto-dalla-Francia-con-il-servizio-Mondial-Relay/m-p/944840
The fact that you managed to trace it back to hs parcel means that you dug a bit deeper with your research.
Hs parcel is our last point of contact because after that the package is handed over to a courier such as sda who in turn adds a shipping label with the relative tracking number that we do not have access to.
So try asking hs parcel if they can tell you which courier they handed the package over to, and if you can find out who it is (sda, gls, brt, etc), try calling the branch responsible for your area to try to recover the package before the storage period expires.
Kind regards.

OP2 years agoHi, thanks for the reply, today the package ended up in Fiumicino (I am in Rome), I think it has started the process to be returned to the sender, I contacted hr parcel several times through the form on their website, there is no other way, but apart from formal and generic apologies they do not give information, probably in my area delivery is by gls (another one that does not enjoy a good reputation) whose office is 30 km from where I am. I consider the package lost, but in exchange they will lose the little credibility they have left (there are service quality surveys online where they appear 13th out of 15 and in another 9th out of 10). I am posting my experience everywhere hoping that as many people as possible stay away from them.
Hi, and thanks again.
