What should I do when the buyer opens a payment dispute?
I sent an order, which the buyer received, but then a week after the package was delivered, the buyer opened a payment dispute. What needs to be done?

Let us know whether the dispute was opened on:
- ebay
- on ebay but in the name of paypal
or whether it is a dispute opened
- on ebay but through the buyer's banking institution.
If you wrote your thought correctly, it should mean that the buyer disputed / denied the payment.
In this case, first call ebay support by phone and see what they say about it.
go here and follow the instructions to receive a call from ebay:

Best regards.

·2 years agoBasically, the buyer filed a complaint with the bank, disputing the payment and opening a chargeback request.
Now the chargeback request has reached eBay, which will have to handle it.
Was the buyer Italian? Did they have the item shipped to an Italian address?
Did you have a chance to interact with the buyer during the purchase?
Have you tried contacting the buyer?
I recommend getting in touch with eBay to speak with an operator, explaining verbally that you suspect the buyer acted in bad faith, as they most likely want to keep the item and get their money back.
As for the outcomes in these situations, they are generally never certain, so if you want, keep us updated.
Best regards.

OP2 years agoThanks for the information, the customer wasn't Italian, but I trusted the positive feedback he had on his profile. I'll contact eBay as soon as possible, hoping the situation gets resolved.

Sorry about that.
Unfortunately, these kinds of items attract a ton of not-so-honest users.
The package arrived to a physical recipient with a full first and last name who received it and did not refuse it.
The problem is that by disputing the payment, the buyer is not required to return anything because they didn't order anything.
It's likely that the package was sent to another accommodating address, so in their country the buyer may have been able to claim that the package arrived at an address that doesn't belong to them.
With a possible report, unfortunately you would achieve little against the buyer, but it could be useful to give to eBay; if you contact support, see what they advise you to do.
Generally speaking, when shipping abroad, it is GOOD PRACTICE to have at least some kind of interaction with the buyer.
You can make up an excuse that you need the phone number because otherwise it can't be shipped, or you can ask for confirmation of the shipping address, or ask what kind of shipping they prefer, etc.
One thing is a dispute over a non-conforming item, where in any case the buyer has to ship the item back, and another is a payment dispute, where the buyer can keep the item and is not required to ship anything back.
Kind regards.

·2 years agoif one doesn't specify what kind of dispute was opened, I think it's pointless to ask the question....... so specify as much as possible.......
