What happens if the buyer is absent at delivery?
Hi! I sent a package to the buyer, but they weren’t home at the time of delivery, as shown by the shipment tracking. What should I do in this case? Will the package be sent back to me? And the payment has been held until the shipment is confirmed, but if the item hasn’t arrived, will I not receive the payment? thanks in advance

·3 years agoI forgot .... besides the advice to notify them, using traceable methods (so with messages on eBay and a related copy in email ) and keep the emails and any screenshots as proof ( messages on eBay are deleted after about 6 months ), that you are available to send it back to them again upon payment of 1 new shipment, if you haven't done so, enter the tracking code in the transaction.
If the buyer does not respond, send them 2 or 3 reminders spaced a few days apart, telling them that you will consider yourself free of any obligation after 15 days (but you keep the parcel sealed and remain available for at least 30 days).
As for the crediting of the amount paid, I can see from your profile that you have sold only a few times and therefore fall under the status of a new and/or infrequent seller, so the amounts you are due to receive are held for at least 14 days. As you can read on the page I attach below, "New sellers are usually subject to holds for up to 14 days, although sometimes the times can be longer."

Which shipping service did you use to send the item?
Generally there are TWO delivery attempts, after which the package is held at the nearest post office or directly at the courier’s warehouse (sometimes they can even be 50km away).
But what is the buyer doing? Are they resting on their laurels? Were you able to contact them and point out that if they’re interested in the item, they need to act to get it, and that if they don’t collect the package within the maximum storage period they could lose the item and the money?
The situation is never pleasant when a buyer doesn’t care about their order and sends it back.
Anyway, if you can’t resolve the issue of the package being held and the buyer opens a dispute for item not received, before doing anything contact eBay support right away or write here on the forum .
Best regards.

·3 years agoThe courier, if he doesn't find the recipient on the second attempt (whether it's the first or second attempt depends on the type of shipment), leaves the receipt to collect the parcel held in storage. After the days of storage have passed, the parcel goes back to the sender unless the latter has checked the abandonment of the shipment (for example: in Poste Italiane's six parcel forms there is this option).
So the parcel should go back to you and you will have to tell the recipient that if they want the item they bought they have to pay for another shipment. It would be better for you to write to them several times, warning them that if they no longer show interest you will consider yourself free of any obligation.

·3 years agoThis is because even if the package is returned to the sender, the item remains the property of the buyer who paid for it. So the advice is to notify them in a traceable way and keep the email as proof that you are willing to send it back to them upon payment for a new shipment.
If the buyer were to open a claim for an item not received, contact support via chat or better yet by phone and point out that the recipient did not collect the package that was regularly shipped. If you leave the handling to automated systems, you lose the claim even if you are right, because the algorithms do not go and check certain details
