selling costs
good evening, I received an email saying that 3 euros in selling fees will be charged to my checking account, I didn’t know about this, probably because I enabled the option to run an auction. In any case, how can I avoid paying this amount? or, if I pay it and then remove the listing, it won’t be charged anymore, right?

·3 years agoYou need to CHECK when you get to the end of the listing form; there’s the BLUE button that says: LIST AT THE RATES SHOWN.
“List it for free” when there are no paid options active on the listing.
Or
Only the amount to pay for the paid options is simply displayed (in the example, 0.50 euros).

·3 years agoHi, when I started selling on Ebay I had the same problem...
I had made many listings without taking the various fees into account, ending up with a debt of more than 20 euros.
In the end I solved it by contacting customer support via chat:

They explained to me that, as a completely exceptional measure, they only remove the charges once, but they will ask you to close the listings related to the fees.
Just to be clear, I am not suggesting cheating the selling costs, but simply an opportunity offered by support itself that is not made known.

·3 years agoI agree that it's worth trying to contact support anyway ( even if sometimes, for various reasons, you don't get a satisfactory response..... ) : if however you find the "right" operator by asking the "right" questions ( and here experience matters....... ) sometimes you get something even unexpected......

·3 years agofirst of all: before venturing onto Ebay (especially if you’re selling....) read the rules and then, obviously, take on board the contents of what you’ve read ......
as for the rest, the other users have already answered your question: you used a paid service (which is shown before confirming the listing) and so the related fees were correctly charged to you ...... which you have to pay (removing the listing does not avoid payment);
you can always contact support if you have further doubts; in any case, if you don’t pay, your account won’t last long......

·3 years agoOf course eBay's rules are fairly complex, but in this case we're talking about the basics, you need to know at least a minimum before starting, then with time you learn more and more.
In any case, in this situation (as others have already said), when creating the listing, before confirming the submission, the amount of the fee that would be charged was shown.

·3 years agoSimple answer: you CANNOT avoid paying it!
When you created the listing, didn't you see the amount charged?
At the end, the cost is shown and you have to confirm it!

·3 years agoI saw that you closed the auction, but by now you have to pay that €3 fee.
This listing, as you made it, is fine; the only thing you need to remove is the reserve price.

Start with an auction base price with a minimum price at which you are willing to sell the table with the chairs.
Alternatively.
You can do a Buy It Now with the possible option for buyers to send you an offer.
In the offer you can also choose the minimum amount below which you are not willing to sell the item.

You created an auction where, if the minimum price you requested is not reached, the item does not sell.
If you want to avoid paying this money next time, you need to remove the reserve price and choose one of these 2 options.
Auction starting at the minimum price you are willing to sell for.
Buy now and/or buy now with the offer to purchase option.
These options are free and not paid, unlike the reserve price.
In conclusion, for the moment you have to pay this 3 euro fee, next time avoid using this option so you won't pay anything.
