I need to sell an item as a private seller, how do I ship it?
Hi everyone guys, I have to sell an item, it’s the first time I’m using eBay to sell, I’m not really sure how to handle shipping, especially international shipping, let’s go through the questions one by one:
- I noticed there are two shipping options to choose from, the domestic one, which could be done with Italian Post if I wanted, and an international one. In the case of domestic shipping, do I have to take the package to the post office myself with a label I fill out with the buyer’s details? Is there a more automated eBay service?
- For international shipping I have no idea how to proceed, who pays the extra customs costs? How do I set the shipping price before the sale if I don’t know how much it will cost?
Thanks in advance for the answers

·2 years agoA piece of advice since you're a beginner with sales: it's better that you forget about international sales, limit sales to just the domestic territory and for the first few times ship on your own, that is, offer the standard Poste Italiane parcel and take it to the post office yourself, so if there's any mistake on your part regarding weight-measurements they can tell you directly the cost per bracket and you won't make mistakes.
Then over time, after you've gained a bit of experience and maybe read quite a few pages in eBay's "selling" section, you'll be able to start using other shipping services and then open up to international sales.
