eBay stole more than 1000 euros from me
Summary: The thread discusses an issue in which coaching_nutrizionale claims that eBay has taken more than 1,000 euros from them. Several participants responded, but no specific details were provided in the content of the posts.
Dear users, I am addressing sellers in particular. I have a serious problem with this breed of people from eBay. You need to be careful guys, they are not serious or trustworthy people, and they are sneaky and acting in bad faith. I'll explain what happened to me and ask for your advice on what to do. 4 years ago I was living with my ex partner and she was running her business on eBay. We had a mobile phone connected to my home network and she used this number linked to her account. I don't remember what the reason was, her business didn't go well, she had problems with a user and she stopped the activity on eBay, leaving a debt to eBay of about 400 euros. (which I only found out today thanks to eBay because I didn't interfere in her business) Soon after we broke up and I heard nothing more. 4 years later I decided to start my own business and sell on eBay. In good faith and naively I put in my phone number, the same one she used at the time because we were living
together. eBay after many sales blocked 1000 euros for me because they say that my ex partner's account is linked to me (because of the phone number) and they won't unblock the funds and won't let me sell if that account doesn't pay the debt. I tried to explain the situation and moreover I don't know how to track down my ex partner and they don't want to know. They literally stole my money because of another person. Another serious thing: I asked if I paid the debt, would they guarantee reactivation and unblocking of the money, and they told me they guarantee nothing and that they have to assess it. You can't understand the anger guys. The fact is that I pay these **bleep**s and they still find something else. Because by now they have linked me to my ex partner's account. Help me guys, I don't know how else to get my money back. Tomorrow I'll talk to my lawyer

·1 year agoI keep reading absurd comments from know-it-alls, in your profile here, profile there, etc... but do you even know Italian law? none of you know-it-alls who defend eBay tooth and nail just to wipe out competition, no one can pose as an official or legal authority with a case in progress..
Dear know-it-alls, if Ebay screws you out of your money, it's a criminal matter! no policy or contract can stand up to that! it's the same thing as taking your car to the mechanic and not paying him and the mechanic keeps the car! he can't do that! period, that's the law, and it's pointless for you to go on and on.
For anyone ebay screws out of or withholds money, run to the carabinieri and file a complaint for embezzlement that leads to arrest, and that's that! no email, no writing about policy etc... criminal complaint first, then we'll see what happens, only then will Ebay be brought down a peg!

·2 years agoYou used the same number as a suspended account and on eBay and any other marketplace there is a correlation.
Question: at least you knew that your ex was using your phone number, right?
Reason why you shouldn’t have used it.
Also be careful talking to your lawyer, you are obliged to explain your activity to him and hope that it doesn’t come back to bite you.
Have a good evening.

·2 years agoGranted that the mistake of entering the same number (but I think not only that...) was his.
Granted that he was/were selling, as a private seller, new items in massive and constant quantities.
Granted that before embarking on the adventure as a seller, he should have carefully read eBay's terms of service before agreeing to them.
Given that, before calling someone a "thief" in their own home (eBay), I suggest you reflect on the previous points (...).

·2 years agoAnd there’s also the serious aggravating factor of dietary supplements, which can only be sold by authorized professional sellers (Food Business Operators) https://www.chemsafe-consulting.com/2022/10/18/integratori-alimentari-sul-mercato-la-procedura-in-italia/
Some say that the guys on eBay are thieves .......... the pot calling the kettle black.

OP2 years agoThis number is a home network, I’m not going to blame myself if I didn’t change my number since my activity is transparent and clean. I’m not going to blame myself if my ex partner lived with me and used my home network. That said, we are 2 different identities provable by identity documents, home addresses, and bills. What the hell does it mean to link 2 people just because of a phone number? Are you kidding me? I sell supplements and I am an independent representative for the supplement company, which is a network company, so what does the quantity have to do with it??? My activity is clean, full of positive feedback and satisfied customers.. why the hell block the account???

·2 years agoYour activity without a VAT number is NOT at all above board!
If you are "an independent representative of the supplement company"... in other words a reseller... you must also be registered with the chamber of commerce... so, are you above board?
Think carefully before writing nonsense.
Have a good day.

·2 years agoBut do you even believe what you write?
If you are an independent representative of a supplements company, that is very serious.
There is a specific law on these products, so maybe what the company produces are not really dietary supplements. https://www.salute.gov.it/portale/temi/p2_6.jsp?area=Alimenti%20particolari%20e%20integratori&id=3139&lingua=italiano&menu=vuoto#:~:text=Gli%20integratori%20alimentari%2C%20i%20prodotti,del%20settore%20alimentare%20(OSA).
Having representatives who sell on marketplaces continuously and in an organized way as private individuals would not be proper for them, given that the very presence on ebay eliminates the assumption of occasional sales that is characteristic of door-to-door selling.
Finally, if you really work on commission, as предусмотрed for Network Marketing, you don't really lose that much (a few dozen euros out of the 1000 blocked to the company that assigns you the sales).
bye

·2 years agoleaving aside the identical phone number (which is the least of it......) and reading the rules (which should anyway be read to avoid surprises.....and which in any case you accept when you sell/buy on Ebay), do you really think you’re in the clear selling as a private individual (without even getting into the products you sell and any permits, various qualifications) new products in quantity, regardless of the platform used?
if so, go ahead and let the lawyer “rip you off”: I recommend the one with the “loudest bark,” the one you’ll be yelling at when the bill comes...... (...I know, joke already told.... but it’s worth bringing back.... )
