There is only a shipping code. The package is marked as shipped. What should I do?

I bought an item and that item shows as shipped, complete with tracking number. For e-Bay, the package shows as shipped. On the Post Office website, it says that only the tracking number exists, but that no package associated with that tracking number has been handed over to them. I tried to contact the seller, but I'm still waiting for a reply.
