good morning everyone,
I’ve ended up switching to eBay shipping services, and now that I have until tomorrow 10/1 to resolve a dispute from a buyer, I realize that a delivery attempt was made today, 9/1, but it was unsuccessful because the address was incorrect or incomplete.
I check the label and realize that, since the address was too long, it cut off a good part of it (wrapping to the next line was too complicated).
dealing with Poste, you can’t get through to a human, and the artificial intelligence isn’t intelligent enough.
eBay support doesn’t help me all that much because they don’t really know what to do.
does anyone have any suggestions or has anyone already been through this?

OP1 year agoalso... the malfunctioning of the label printer causes damage 1) to the buyer, who quite rightly is disappointed, 2) to the seller, not so much because of the refund but to their own image 3) to eBay itself, but maybe it doesn't care.

OP1 year agoHonestly, I think that if I can add the missing part on the post label myself, the field size could be increased. Or the Packlink service could simply take charge of the PDF and handle printing the address field itself by pulling the data from the database uploaded by the buyer, but it may be that in handling this service a different body part from the brain is used.

·1 year agoThe problem of characters limited to 45 or 50 depends on Poste Italiane.
The broker cannot change the length of the characters.
The broker could introduce this limitation in the label editing phase so that the user sees the address truncated.
But the problem is that packlink also uses UPS and DHL, which allow more characters.
In short, they prefer to leave things as they are

·1 year agoThe Italian Post label has a limited number of characters available, so once the label is printed you have to:
- manually add the missing part of the address
- it’s advisable to print a label from a blank sheet with the buyer’s full address.
Packlink gives you 3 days to report the issue and fix the problem; after 3 days you CAN DO NOTHING anymore except wait for the item to be returned.
Unfortunately you will have to refund the buyer and/or eBay will do it when the buyer opens a dispute for item not received.

·1 year agoThe "eBay shipping service" is actually something else: it's called PackLink and it has its own logistics.
So: it was with them that you had to get in touch right away as soon as you noticed the problem (that is, while you were realizing that part of the address was missing).
PackLink is the "real" sender of the package and can communicate with Poste Italiane as a priority: for PI you are just the "pick-up point"...
