Funds blocked with a seller while eBay doesn't respond
Summary: The discussion addresses the problem of funds being held up for a seller on eBay, with various participants sharing similar experiences and discussing possible solutions. There are no specific details in the content of the replies, but there is an underlying sense of frustration over the lack of responses from eBay.
I recently started a shop on eBay, paying almost 50 euros to be able to list up to 10,000 items.
They checked my account at the beginning with the business documents; it’s a business account. Later they allowed me to put some items up for sale. Gradually sales increased until I got very good results, but not a huge number of sales. They blocked our funds under the pretext of the review, after about a month of work, saying they wanted the tracking numbers and proof of delivery. That said, we shipped every single order, we have no pending issues and no complaints (the only one open was from a user who said they hadn’t received the product, but the postal tracking showed it as delivered to them; because of the block I decided to refund them anyway) and we have no negative feedback. A model account, you could say it’s never had any problems. We also used Amazon logistics for some orders, and I don’t know why for some of them it’s not possible to track them publicly but only from inside our Amazon logistics console. I asked whether I could prove it with a screenshot, but nothing: they told me they wanted either a working link or user feedback. Long story short, it’s been a month that we’ve been blocked with the account and funds held back, all orders were delivered many days ago and 5 feedbacks are missing as proof, but they aren’t პასუხing me and I don’t know what to do. In the end I wrote to eBay many times asking whether this was healthy behavior for a company, but now they don’t even reply to my requests; it’s been days since I’ve been trying to write without getting any news. What should I do, hire a lawyer to recover the money?
But why do they get to do as they please with the sellers’ money, money that we sweat from morning till night to make things work, while paying very steep commissions? Why these abuses, and we have to keep our heads down?
If anyone has any suggestions, otherwise all that’s left is to write the situation off as lost and make the legal route ever more likely.
Can I say it? Disgusting! And nobody does anything!

·1 year agoIf we look at the feedback profile (the classic one), we notice that two recent negative feedbacks are, by default, put at the bottom of the list and don’t stand out.
These are precautions that eBay has recently introduced to help sellers who, for one reason or another, have had to deal with post-sale issues.
That said, the seller also keeps going after eBay in the reply feedback, which shows that this is a seller who doesn’t have a clear idea of where they are and what the rules are.
No offense to this seller, but under these conditions maybe it’s better if the account stays put.
Also because I imagine the idea of moving to a professional account isn’t even being considered.

·1 year agoYou need to go to the postal police and report them for embezzlement! be careful because here too they’re manipulating things! report them for theft under article 646 of the criminal code and you’ll see they’ll be brought down a peg, they did the same thing to me after 4 hard-earned years and just when I was about to grow, same story as yours! tomorrow I’m going to report them, not some lawyer! a criminal complaint carries more weight than a letter from a lawyer they won’t even pay attention to!

Sure, and the earth is flat and you are a private seller!

·1 year agoDear giob39
anyone reading your post on the forum can hardly make head or tail of it.
I took the trouble to look at your profile and I see that as a private seller you sold exclusively NEW items.
Do you think the other sellers who sell the same items as you with a VAT number are fools?
If we look at your profile, in the information you wrote out the whole story, which I quote in full:
I quote: "PROFILE THAT IS GOING TO DIE CLOSED בגלל THE ABSURDITY AND MADNESS OF 4 KIDS FROM EBAY CUSTOMER SERVICE - 4 YEARS OF PRIVATE PROFILE, NEVER HAD DISPUTES OR NEGATIVE FEEDBACK - ONE DAY EBAY'S OWNER WAKES UP AND ASKS FOR PURCHASE INVOICES AND DELIVERY RECEIPTS WITHOUT HAVING EITHER THE REQUIREMENTS TO ASK FOR THEM OR THE OFFICIAL STATUS TO ASK FOR THEM - PROVIDED DOCUMENTS WITH ALSO THIRD-PARTY DATA, FORCING ME TO DO SO WITH RESTRICTIONS, BUT IT SERVED NO PURPOSE - IN ADDITION THEY ARE HOLDING MY MONEY BY BLOCKING MY FUNDS IN VIOLATION OF ART. 646 OF THE PENAL CODE FOR EMBEZZLEMENT AND THEFT - I REPEAT, ALL THIS WITHOUT A JUSTIFIED REASON !"

OP2 years agoI thank everyone for the replies, but I don’t think they are effective or relevant to the problem I raised.
Obviously there is a company selling under our account, obviously we have a VAT number and obviously the goods we sell were first purchased. Some tracking numbers don’t work, and I didn’t say I hadn’t entered them; the tracking numbers are there and are provided for by the platform, since the courier appears selectable from the proposed list. The problem, in my opinion, is that there’s no consistency between what eBay does, claiming to want to carry out checks by blocking the account, and what it actually does and what happens afterward. I agree that accounts should be checked, but I don’t understand what logic, if there is any, eBay uses to carry out these checks.
The trend I see in this forum is always to defend eBay, to always find some justification for their actions, without wanting to see and consider the effects all this has on a company that relies on this platform. It seems that the mistake is always ours and that their bible, that is, the rules, is always being violated by sellers who have problems.
All this leaves a bitter taste, because we are certain we have done nothing wrong and that we have no problems with the business being conducted, but the problem of the blocked funds remains. Maybe in a few days it will be resolved, but why is there no transparency? why are they no longer replying to me and, above all, why, if the problem is not mine (the fact that the tracking is not being tracked online), does it necessarily have to become mine?
I’ll conclude on the payments issue: absolutely eBay does not forbid paying by bank transfer or other methods, which are also available during listing creation, I have not received a payment different from the eBay method, the funds have always been in their hands, and if that were the problem too, why not say it clearly? You correct the listings and the problem is solved in less than a couple of hours..
In any case, thank you for reading my post; while respecting everyone’s opinion, I remain of my view and take on board the advice and observations.

·2 years agoto sum up, eBay has its own rules (whether you like them or not.....): if it carries out checks, obviously there is some problem that is not necessarily linked to the current account..... then we shouldn't rule out the possibility of an eBay mistake (they are not infallible..... )

·2 years agoThank you all for the replies, but I don’t think they’re conclusive or relevant to the issue I raised.
It’s a typical response from someone who posts about a problem but isn’t satisfied with the answer (and it almost always happens, it’s easier to take it out on the community chr than on ebay).
What I see in this forum is that the tendency is always to defend ebay, to always find an excuse for their actions, refusing to see and consider the effects all this has on a company that relies on this platform. It seems like the mistake is always ours and that their bible, namely the rules, is always being violated by sellers who have problems.
I’ll close on the payments issue: absolutely ebay does not forbid paying by bank transfer or other methods, which are also available at listing time, I have not
The tendency of the person writing, instead, is to ask for help while expecting ad personam replies, not relevant to the rules but more “comforting”.
I’ll close on the payments issue: absolutely ebay does not forbid paying by bank transfer or other methods, which are also available at listing time
eBay absolutely does forbid payments via bank transfer not intermediated by eBay itself, you are also one of the many who chime in on the community without having read the rules, if you read the various posts you’ll get an idea: the one whom eBay guaranteed, albeit not very consistently, the release of payments within 24/48 hours; the one whom eBay allows to sell thousands of items as a private seller, in defiance of DAC07; the one who sells illegal and prohibited items but that’s not why eBay blocked his account... as you can see, you’re in good company.
I will take the advice and observations to heart.
Take to heart also a thorough reading of the rules and maybe every now and then lend a hand in the community too, instead of just asking, criticizing the replies, and then disappearing, like most of the busybodies who drop in here.

·2 years agoBy all means, stick to your view, you have every right to, but here replies are generally given based on eBay's rules.
A buyer CANNOT pay by bank transfer on eBay.
The accepted payment methods are credit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Want to get paid on Stripe?
YOU CAN'T DO IT.
If you get caught concluding deals outside eBay you could even risk a permanent and irrevocable block of the account and all subsequent accounts registered under your name / VAT number.
If you intend to do this kind of thing and you find the COMPETITION that wants to be "NICE" to you, it's just a matter of time....
All it takes is user xyz reporting to eBay that you wanted to carry out a negotiation outside eBay and I'm not even saying at the first report but.......
Kind regards.

·2 years agoHi heavenwelkin, it will be like the one eBay had guaranteed, even though he was “new” as a seller, payments released in 24/48 hours...
He didn't want to say where he had read it in the rules....

·2 years agoIn the listings under “payment methods” it says
“We accept payments via eBay, Stripe with Credit Card and bank transfer”
On eBay you can’t get paid by bank transfer, and neither by Stripe.
Read the site’s rules carefully before anything else.
If eBay is after you, there must be a reason.....
Best regards.

·2 years agoProfessional account, but the VAT number is never shown in your listings, as required by current regulations.
Maybe they’re after you because they think you’re using dropshipping, without declaring it and without regular supply contracts; short selling (buying after selling) is absolutely forbidden on ebay.

·2 years agoIf eBay has asked you for tracking for some shipments and you can't provide a tracking code to send to eBay to verify the shipment ........
I don't know what kind of help you're asking for on the forum, but it seems clear to me that you need to comply with the regulations on tracking that is fully visible to buyers and to the integrated tracking system on eBay.
If you end up with tracking that doesn't work from the outside but only through your private management console outside of eBay, the damage is quickly done.
Kind regards.
