Hello everyone, I’ve been on eBay for 16 years and I only received funds on hold on my first sales, like everyone else, back in 2009. After that, no problems, same sales performance, same amounts, even with the change in the payment module in 2021, everything was fine. Since the end of last May, though, something new has started. I sell an item in the USA, for about 600 euros, funds blocked until delivery. Two days later I sell an item in Italy, for about 70 euros, funds blocked until delivery. The Italian item couldn’t be delivered, the guy had entered two addresses and I canceled the sale. The American item was delivered properly but, surprise, the destination ZIP code does not match the shipping one and the block not only remains, but has been extended to 30 days. From checks carried out with Fedex, the delivery was correct since the Maryland 20910 destination appears on the delivery receipt I sent to eBay, but in their tracking, where for their summary it shows Washington DC, the ZIP code is actually 20002, so it is different. The buyer also left positive feedback, which is only partly relevant with respect to eBay’s Customer Guarantee, but it is fully relevant to the fact that he received the item, otherwise why would he have left it. Nothing, no action, they agreed with me, but they also told me that they cannot manually intervene on eBay’s algorithm. After contacting eBay Customer Support several times, the reasons for these recent blocks were many, namely:- seller performance, or too few recent sales, denied by another colleague;- new payment module since 2021, denied by another colleague and anyway, as said above, the new payment module had not affected me at all;- high risk for eBay of refunding buyers instead of sellers who run off with the money, and so, in order not to risk closure, everything gets blocked until the customer is satisfied, so at least the money is there, if it needs to be returned, without advancing it, and then pursue debt recovery against the defaulting seller. And this seems like a spot-on answer to me, even if it was denied by another operator, in short, a mess. At this point I would like to ask you whether you have also experienced blocks, first on delivery and then on mismatched ZIP codes, and whether they were then removed in 30 days or worse.
