Set received for two orders and one single shipment
Hello, a user bought two items at different times over the course of two days. I made a single shipment with a carrier, using one of the two orders to generate the shipping label, and marked the second as shipped. The user received the shipment but doesn't understand how to mark the second item as Received. Thanks for the support

·3 months agoI made the combined single shipment because (I suppose) it was more convenient for you for cost-saving reasons.
In addition to marking the item as shipped you should also be able to add the shipping code (which in your case will be the same as the other shipment).
Go here:
https://www.ebay.it/sh/ord/?filter=status:ALL_ORDERS
Next to the order marked as shipped you will find the option to also enter the shipping code (check carefully).
That said, you should also consider getting in touch with the buyer and offering a discount on the combined shipping since they paid for TWO and should have received two separate shipments with different codes (unless agreed otherwise).
Best regards.

·3 months agoEven if he puts the same code on both, he exposes himself to the buyer's risk.
If the buyer disputes both, on one he wins and on the other he loses.

·3 months agoThe link I posted refers to the advanced console for eBay sellers.
As you can see here:
On eBay, entering a shipping code and editing it is allowed.
The buyer, among their sales, also offers items with free shipping.
Let’s say it’s two items with free shipping: in that case the seller is not obliged to make two separate shipments, so they can generate a label for one item and then enter the exact same shipping code for the other items.
As far as eBay is concerned, the operation is perfectly acceptable and compliant with the rules because it is expected that the seller can ship multiple items purchased with a single tracking code.
If the buyer opens a claim for item not received, there shouldn’t be any problems once the tracking code is entered (even for both shipments).
But I wouldn’t bet on it, since the procedures are standardized and don’t take many variables into account, so the seller should get in touch with the buyer to discuss any duplicate shipping costs to be refunded.

·3 months agoIt shouldn't be possible.
Taking it to absurdity, if it were possible ....
A seller sells multiple items and, without grouping them into a single order, puts the same code on all of them, but then ships only one:
the buyer can't file a claim for item not received, because the code shows as delivered.
the buyer can't file a claim for item not as described (received one instead of many), since each order shows only one.
I probably got it wrong, but as a buyer I wouldn't feel comfortable.

·3 months agoCombined shipping, with all its inherent issues related to creating and managing combined shipping rules (which are anything but quick, practical, and intuitive), is completely bypassed in the case where a seller offers free shipping.
If a seller offers free shipping on all of their items and you buy 10 items, the seller could decide to:
- ship all the items in a single shipment and provide one shipping code
- ship these 10 items using one shipment with multiple parcels
- ship these 10 items using two or more separate shipments with different shipping codes
- ship each individual item using a separate shipping label, providing 10 different tracking codes.
These are the options a seller has available on ebay.
That’s why I always say that if there’s any doubt, you need to contact the seller and ask all the relevant questions before buying.

You made a mistake. You should have grouped the two transactions into one and applied combined shipping.... https://www.ebay.it/help/selling/shipping-items/shipping-rates/offering-combined-shipping?id=4169&st=3&pos=1&query=Offrire%20la%20spedizione%20combinata&intent=spedizione%20combinata&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1130
Now, the second item will be as if it had been sent by priority mail (untracked).
If the buyer wants to screw you over, all they have to do is mark the second item as not received and ask for a refund. If they’re honest, though, you’ll get the payment anyway.
