shipping address
I won an item in the UK and asked the seller to use one of my alternate addresses in the UK that is on my account. The seller didn’t reply to me and, four days after the auction, canceled the order and immediately relisted the item at about triple the price. Is this allowed, or can eBay penalize him?

I have a question about shipping costs: if during checkout I change the address and enter a UK one like in this case, do shipping costs go down considering it would be a UK to UK transaction? Thank you very much

·1 year agoYou wouldn’t pay VAT, but then the problem would come up again when you tried to bring it into Italy.

·1 year agoDo you live in the UK or do you have friends/relatives in the UK.
If you have the item shipped to the UK, you certainly won’t pay VAT or customs duties or payment collection fees.
Then how do you bring it to Italy?
Do you have it put in your hand luggage while a friend/relative takes a flight to Italy?

from what I read, the seller is in the UK and you wanted shipping in the UK even though you are registered in Italy, but you must not ask the seller to ship to your alternative UK address, instead you must enter it yourself during the purchase phase, that is, at checkout in the dedicated field to change the shipping address. The seller cannot see your addresses and furthermore even if he had sent it to you by email he would not have been able to accommodate you because he is obliged to ship to the address you indicated to eBay during purchase. It is the only address he sees. Therefore the seller's behavior is not only legitimate but fully justified as he complied with eBay's conditions. As for relisting the item at triple the price... that's another matter, but from what is understood you had not even paid for the item, in fact the four days of waiting before relisting it were observed. If you want to repeat the experience you will have to pay and enter the correct address in the appropriate field, obviously if the listing provides for shipping to that country, otherwise the sale can be cancelled without any problem.

·3 years agoThe seller is not obliged to sell the item and can also cancel 1 winning item. For sure they don't gain anything from it.

If the seller EXPLICITLY states that he does not ship outside the UK and you decide to use a mail forwarding service and the seller notices, he can quite calmly cancel the sale and have any defects removed.
If you use this kind of service, know that the seller is RESPONSIBLE only UP TO the UK recipient; if some kind of problem were to happen along the way to Italy, you would not be covered by eBay protection because the seller could state that you used this kind of service and that he wrote that he did not ship outside England.
If instead it is a REAL physical address of a acquaintance, friend or relative of yours, then the seller was wrong to cancel the sale, but in any case he could do it, and this cancellation will cost him a defect on performance.
