Incorrect buyer address (???), order canceled for no reason, and the seller isn't responding
Summary: The issue discussed concerns an incorrect address provided by the buyer, which led to the order being canceled without a clear justification. The seller did not respond to the requests, creating frustration among the participants. Several people commented, but the specific details of the responses were not provided.
On February 12 I ordered a PS5 cooling stand on eBay from an overseas seller.
Payment made, order confirmed, and everything was fine.
On February 13 my order gets canceled and I receive, completely out of the blue, a refund for the item I requested. The reason? "There was a problem with the buyer's shipping address".
The thing is, I wrote my address on eBay years and years ago, when I opened the profile, and I have never changed it nor have I ever had any problems with it.
I sent the seller a private message to figure out what the problem was with my address, because it looked correct to me and I didn't understand, but he (who, moreover, didn't even contact me or give me any warning that he would refund the product I ordered and cancel the order) didn't reply to me.
I thank him for the refund, of course, at least I didn't lose any money, but because of something nonsensical I risked not having (or anyway not having in time) the gift for my boyfriend for our anniversary. Luckily I found the product on another site.
What do you think? Could it be that the seller had actually already sold the item but forgot to remove the listing?

·11 months agoit happened to me today......order cancelled because of incorrect address by the buyer........
The seller sends me a message saying the item was not available and that it would take about a month to arrive.

·11 months agoHi alupaci
I can give you some possible reasons why this happens.
1. The seller doesn't want the auction to expire so they don't have to relist it
2. They want to keep the priority (visibility, ranking) they gained on that auction.
3. Human error or carelessness
So you can decide whether it's worth reporting this in the seller feedback rating.
You could write for example: Item NOT AVAILABLE sale canceled due to buyer's wrong address.

·1 year agoIf I remember correctly there are 4 possible reasons for cancellations.
Again, if I remember correctly, two of these are in favor of the seller (they don't get stuck with defects), namely "the buyer asked me to cancel the order", "there are problems with the buyer's address".
Most likely the real reason is not among these four cancellation options.
If the seller didn't reply to you and if not too long from now you see the item for sale again at the same price, most likely the reason is that he doesn't want to ship to Italy.
If instead you can no longer find the item for sale, most likely it broke, got lost, or was sold elsewhere.
If instead you find the item at a higher price, then the seller decided he wants to get a bigger margin on the sale.

·1 year agoIn addition to what Mario said, which is absolutely spot on, on other platforms (Subito, Vinted etc.) if you pay for an item the seller sometimes doesn’t even reply and lets the purchase confirmation period expire.
Sure, then you get automatically refunded by the platform, but by now it seems to be the prevailing trend: selling to whoever they feel like and at whatever price they feel like...

OP1 year agoTrue, honestly I didn't really check whether the seller had included Italy among the countries they wouldn't ship the item I had ordered to.
But I checked another of their listings (for a product I didn't care about) and the countries they wouldn't ship to were only Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine.
Also, I should mention that I also noticed that after refunding me, they updated the listing and changed the store name 🤨
