Shipping information for BRT Fermopoint
Summary: The discussion concerns information about a shipment to a BRT Fermopoint. Several participants interacted, including francesco.schiralli, marioelegio, daxsisko, and arcobaleno2022, but the specific content of their replies was not provided. It appears to be a collaborative conversation about the logistical aspects or specific details of the shipment, although concrete details are missing from the available text.
Hello everyone, I sold an item through eBay and the address had an eCP code.. I looked into various forums/guides and from what I understood the buyer chose pickup at a Fermopoint.
With that said, I have a couple of questions:
1.) Can I use any courier as long as the address is exactly the same as the one provided by eBay (including the eCP code)? Except registered mail
2.) How does it work if the buyer doesn’t pick up the package? Usually when delivery fails the package is returned to the sender, but in this case how does it work? I’m asking because if I arrange a shipment with a courier X to an XYZ address (including eCP) and the Fermopoint accepts the package.. at that point the shipment from the tracking of the courier I chose should show "delivered" and the delivery completed successfully (at the Fermopoint). But what if the buyer was unable to pick it up? Who would send the package back to me? And with which courier? (since the shipment I would pay for to the Fermopoint would result as "delivered"; I would expect a new tracking code with a new shipment).
I wanted some clarification on this.
Thanks everyone in advance

·1 year agoThe buyer has 14 days to pick up their shipment; after that period, the system automatically sends the notification to the courier (the famous button to click on the console when the shipment arrives) to arrange pickup at the FP to start the return shipment. The courier picks up the package at the FP and takes it to the depot, where a label is applied to the package (usually a QR) that will be paid for by the sender to get their goods back.

·1 year agoNo worries, it was a pleasure.
The courier doesn’t care about the eCP code, only the address and the name of the FP; even the FP manager doesn’t really care that much because once you’ve created and paid for the label, their console shows the buyer’s first and last name and eCP code for the pickup, and next to it there’s a button to click as soon as the package arrives so the system sends the buyer an email and/or SMS letting them know their package has arrived at the FP; the same button, once clicked for the arrival, has to be clicked again once the buyer has come to pick it up so the matter can be closed and monetized in the FP console account.
I hope I’ve been clear.
Best regards

OP1 year agoPerfect, you were very clear, thanks.
One last question: how is the return to sender handled? More specifically, if the buyer doesn’t pick up the package from the pickup point, who would reorganize the shipment? (because at that point the shipment I purchased will actually be marked as delivered, so I imagine a new label will be created).. but it’s not clear to me how this process is handled... is it the pickup point that will take care of arranging a new collection to the sender’s address?

As for the characters on the labels from the various couriers, I can tell you that they have limited printing characters, so when you print them you won’t see everything you wrote on the label; BUT the courier when scanning the parcel DOES, so my advice is to always write everything on the label because the courier doesn’t see the physical label until the parcel is delivered (and so they won’t read beforehand what you wrote by hand on top) but what they scanned at the depot will be what counts, and that is shown on the courier’s delivery list. Usually when I fill out a label I try to spread the various information across the fields; for example:
Name: Mario Rossi
Surname: C/O nomefermopoint
Address: Via Mario Rossi 10 - codiceEcp
If you want to write by hand on the label first name, last name and eCP no one is stopping you, BUT DO NOT leave out this information from the label, it has to be on both.
I hope I was clear.

OP1 year agoThanks for these insights that otherwise I would never have been able to know... as for the label, when booking it through the ebay shipping manager I didn't leave anything out (in fact it was practically already prefilled by ebay, I only changed the order of the address because by default it entered the name of the pickup point first and then its address, not the other way around).
But when it came time to print, the address on the label was always cut off and there was no trace of the eCP code. (which is why I preferred to write it by hand as well as on the label.. otherwise I can't explain how the pickup point operator would manage to trace the eCP code since the operator doesn't have access to the same data that the courier or the branch have in their lists)
But from what I understood, the courier doesn't care about the eCP code, it only cares about the pickup point address, because then the recipient's first/last name and the eCP code will only be needed by the pickup point operator to handle the pickup.
As for the label formatting, yours is a great idea! I hadn't thought of putting the pickup point name in the "last name" field.

·1 year ago( point 1 ) I’d say the issue doesn’t arise, since fermopoints are tied to the corresponding courier for which they provide the service: in short, if you need to ship to a BRT fermopoint, you have to use BRT, otherwise the package travels at your own risk and peril ............
so, ( point 2 ) , if the package is not collected, it will be returned with the courier you shipped with and that is associated with the fermopoint (in this specific case BRT) ;
remember that the package is marked as "delivered" when it is picked up by the recipient (and not when it arrives at the destination fermopoint)

OP1 year agoSomeone correct me if I’m wrong:
From what I’ve understood, the service does not require using BRT as the courier; any courier can be used as long as the address includes the full ebay address (including the eCP code).
In fact, no prepaid "shop2shop" / "home2shop" label is provided, but simply the fermopoint address; and by purchasing a "shop2home" / "home2home" shipment to the address listed by ebay, the package will actually be delivered to the fermopoint (as if the fermopoint were the actual recipient). It will then be the fermopoint (through first name/last name and eCP code to manage the shipment, notify the buyer, etc.)
However, I want to point out that this is simply what I personally understood and it could be completely wrong.
Given what I’ve said, if anyone has more precise information/past experiences, that would help

·1 year agoNo mistake, you understood the procedure exactly; you can send the shipment to the Fermopoint with whichever courier you prefer, even if it is a Fermopoint BRT shop and you want to ship with Poste Italiane, no one forbids you from doing so, because the Fermopoint BRT shop handles this shipment from a separate tab on the console, a tab called "eBay" and therefore once you have selected that FP as the destination, on that "eBay" tab you are notified of an incoming shipment with the recipient's first name, last name and eCP code shown above (obviously the courier used is not known because that is at the seller's discretion when sending it to you).
I hope I have been clear.

OP1 year agoThank you so much for your thorough reply!!
Since I noticed you have experience with this as an FP BRT, may I ask if it’s okay to handwrite the sender and recipient on the package (where, in the recipient address, the eCP code is of course also included)?
I’m asking because I tried generating various labels with different couriers and there was no way to generate a label that wouldn’t cut off the address (since between the Fermopoint address, the eCP code, and the Fermopoint name... the address text is quite long).
So I simply generated the label with the longest address possible (basically on the label in the "address" field, the street, house number, and part of the Fermopoint name fit); and then, in addition to attaching the label to the package, I handwrote the sender and recipient with the full address shown by eBay (eCP included)

·1 year agoFor point 1, ok, you need to provide the address that eBay gives you, including the eCP code.
For point 2, on the BRT fermopoint site it says that when the storage period ends the package is returned to the sender. I think they use the BRT courier, but there’s nothing about whether return shipping charges are applied or not.
