invoice submission - private seller
Hello everyone,
I am a new private seller.
I have just accepted a purchase offer and I am at this screen (awaiting payment) that you can see below in the attached image.
Why is there this "Send invoice" option if I am an occasional private seller and obviously without a VAT number. Do I necessarily have to click the "Send invoice" button in any case?
Thanks

·1 year agoeBay translates the English "invoice" as "fattura", but in reality the "fattura" as we know it in Italy is not the Anglo-Saxon equivalent.
In other words: for us a "fattura" is a commercial sales document, valid for tax purposes, which includes the tax details (VAT number and/or tax code) of sender and recipient, as well as the company registration details (registered office and legal contact details) of the issuer.
An "invoice", on the other hand, is for eBay a simple record showing the seller, buyer, nature and price of the goods and services sold.
As eBay understands it (that is, without the details shown in our "fatture", see above), it has no tax value under Italian law (legal value is another matter, but that’s another story...).
For us it amounts to a simple "sales note".
If you are a professional seller, you are required (in addition to tax obligations) to send a "real" invoice to the customer who requests it, in accordance with the standards and provisions of Italian law.

OP1 year agoSo in short, to give him the chance to proceed with the payment, do I necessarily have to click on "Send Invoice"?
Thanks

·1 year agoeBay has already done it with the end-of-auction data present in the listing.
If you want, you can do it too and you can modify some things, namely shipping costs, any discounts, etc.
Or, simply, remind them to pay if in a few days they still haven't done it...

OP1 year agoHe just paid me and the button above disappeared. So it was pretty unnecessary if he pays right away.
Thanks for the useful information and have a nice day.
