The address shows the label eCP, what should I do?
Hello, I’ve only recently started selling here on eBay, and I happened to see in one of the latest orders the wording eCP and I saw that it refers to a pickup point. I ship with Poste, and that’s also stated in the listing, so I’m sure the buyer chose a PuntoPoste or FermoPoste, or did they choose something else? because I noticed they’re mostly FermoPoint, but I don’t know if the postal workers are allowed to leave the parcels there.
Should I just ship normally without worrying about it?

·2 years agoOn this eCP there’s still one thing I don’t understand: when I go to the Post Office, to send with Poste Delivery Standard they make me fill out a form where I have to enter the recipient’s details and the sender’s details; assuming the address is structured like this:
Marco Polo
c/0 Edicola Random FP
eCP: ASDFGHJKL
Corso Inesistente 75
00100 (RM) Roma
Italia
"c/0 Edicola Random FP" and "eCP: ASDFGHJKL" where should I write them on that form I have to fill out? Should I write them on the "Name" line or on the address line?

·3 years agoGranted, in my opinion the seller must always stay up to date, since new things and changes both inside and outside eBay are an everyday occurrence.
Fortunately, the option can be turned off in the settings.
I turned it off because it didn’t seem right to me to add yet another “weak link” to the already long chain of people involved in the handoff from my home to the buyer’s home.
Very often these pickup points don’t behave with enough seriousness, fairness, and honesty, and/or aren’t properly prepared and/or aren’t organized and/or don’t have enough space and/or the parcels aren’t protected properly, etc
eBay certainly did this in good faith to improve its services; the “problem” is that if something goes wrong at the pickup point and the buyer doesn’t receive their item, the one who loses out is always and in any case the seller, since the buyer opens a claim for item not received against the seller.
Even the postal service with poste delivery web, standard, express, where the parcel remains in free storage at the nearest post office, can be defined as “a pickup point”
Kind regards.

·3 years agolet’s add: some drop-off points in fact ........ are not, or are not active yet.... : so the question is, what happens if a buyer has the item shipped to one of these drop-off points where the package will NEVER arrive?
what happens if the buyer, even if it reaches the drop-off point, then doesn’t go to pick it up?
this is just to give a couple of examples.......... so I agree with the fact of an additional "weak link" , and , at the same time , an E-bay policy that says NOTHING about it ( does it consider it a package not delivered or not? consequently in case of a dispute what happens? ) , but Ebay at the time changed everything by putting them in all listings.......... compliments to the genius who thought of it

·3 years agoGood question......
With standard shipping with home delivery, I know that after two failed delivery attempts the package goes into storage, and if the buyer doesn’t arrange to pick it up, things won’t look good for them.
In the case of the pickup point, you’d have to ask a seller who uses it and has dealt with these problems.....
On one hand, the seller should be able to offer more selling options in order to encourage purchases; on the other hand, this convenience made available to the buyer, as usual, is an extra risk for the seller to take into account.
In any case, it’s enough to go to the seller console, under overview, scroll all the way down on the left to the link section, then to settings --> shipping settings --> Pickup point (EDIT) to disable the pickup point option.

·3 years agothe fundamental point remains: why should I have to go and remove an optional thing that wasn’t requested (which anyway, back then, I removed right away, since I consider myself among those who read the rules and know how to interpret them and who, from time to time when needed, contact support);
eBay sometimes (but not only them....) reminds me of an old saying: it’s easy to play the big shot with other people’s asses (the saying actually has a more "colorful" expression - for anyone who doesn’t know it, I replaced the words big shot and ass, though it’s easily searchable on the web in the original version)

·1 year agoRereading this discussion, I realized that my answer should be updated.
The eCP code is generated ONLY if the buyer chooses the fermopoint service.
In cases where the seller does not accept shipping to the fermopoint and removes the option from their preferences, the buyer cannot use the service.
In these cases the buyer might FURBESCAMENTE decide to change the shipping address, redirecting the shipment to a fermopoint, and that is why the eCP code does not appear.
In these cases I strongly recommend canceling the sale right away and making it clear to the buyer that having an item shipped to a fermopoint without the eCP code is not something to do because there is a risk of losing the item and the money.

·3 years agoHello,
it’s strange that you signed up for the Pickup point (Fermo Point) option but don’t know how it works...
Pickup point for sellers | eBay
Ship by writing exactly what you see written in the address (including the eCP code!) with a trackable method that is not registered mail.
Kind regards.

OP3 years agobut is poste italiane okay as a shipper? usually they are crono economy/standard or other trackable options for parcels (always poste italiane).
I don't think I've ever agreed to these pickup points.
Regards.
sika700
·3 years agoSure, that’s fine, the important thing is not to use registered mail.
You can check or remove your subscription to the option here:
Shipping settings (ebay.it)
under "Pickup point".
Kind regards.

·3 years agoThe consent was not requested from the seller but was set automatically, it can be removed when it is noticed but sometimes it happens after the sale has already gone through so it's too late, unfortunately that's how it is...

·3 years agoSorry... but I managed to retrieve from my archive the eBay email, from years ago, that invited me to join the service... and therefore warned of the automatic enrollment if one did not take action, denying the opt-in.
So the warning or the request did happen...
Kind regards.

·3 years agoGood morning,
maybe it was for professional sellers; I’m sure I never received it because I noticed the new feature right away and looked for information about it, then I went into the settings to remove the option, but since it warned that sales would drop, etc. etc., I kept it and used it even though I didn’t really like it. Then I don’t know if other private sellers received it, but since my inbox is small, I never lost it.
Best wishes and have a good day

·3 years agoin fact eBay, back then, set it automatically : in my opinion this was INCORRECT, since, if someone wanted it, they should have enabled it themselves; otherwise no;
it makes no difference whether it warned (or not, in fact many were not warned......) by email since, for various reasons, even if an email is sent it is not said that it will then be read (it could, for example, end up in spam.... )
sika700
·3 years agoBut honestly, besides the email explaining how to disable it, there was also an announcement here on the forum:
https://community.ebay.it/t5/Annunci-di-eBay/Introduzione-del-nuovo-servizio-Punto-di-ritiro/ba-p/885232
so let's say the information was there... but it happened like the change in the payment method... emails sent, announcements posted, but some people still weren't aware of it...
Best regards.

·2 years agoI'm having the opposite problem. Even though I've opted into the pickup point feature, with Poste Italiane shipments, the ecp code doesn't appear on the label !!
A buyer points it out to me but I don't know what it's due to. Instead, on the accompanying invoice the details are complete with the ecp code !!
Thanks if you can help me
heavenwelkin
·2 years agoGood evening pgdl60-4
The purpose of the ecp code is to let the fermopoint collect the commission fees.
The fact that the ecp code is not generated on the label is certainly due to an error/bug in the system.
If you run into problems with the service that does not correctly report the ecp code on the shipping label, I first invite you to report it to packlink-ebay-spedizioni via support ticket.
After that, in addition to the generated label, you can print the ecp code and apply it to the package.
If you have already shipped the package, you can send the buyer a copy of the order details where the ecp code is shown with the address so that when the buyer goes to the fermopoint to pick it up, at the time of filling out the pickup form, they can enter the ecp code.
Kind regards.

·1 year agoIf he wanted to make his pedantry and arrogance public, he succeeded brilliantly, starting with his first message in which he finds it "strange" that someone signed up for the pickup point option without knowing how it works, complete with ellipses.
Apparently we are all idiots, myself included, since the same thing happened to me.
However, despite his intelligence, he misses the difference between active and passive consent, with all its implications. We know that it works a certain way, but that does not automatically mean that everyone is aware of their "non-choices"; that is by no means a given, and the opposite is not strange at all.
Moreover, his comment is also decidedly inappropriate in the part where he writes "you signed up." Because that presupposes an active and conscious action aimed at obtaining consent, which evidently did not happen. Whether that is legal or not has nothing to do with it.
But I am convinced that these arguments are far too down-to-earth for a mind as enlightened as his, so he will reply to me with every argument under the sun, but I think he can spare himself the effort because mine is not a dialogue, just the expression of the annoyance he causes me and anyone who reads him. He can spare us his advice if we have to put up with his lectures.

·1 year agoInstead, I want to reply to you anyway and tell you that if my answers bother you, just avoid reading them... simple!
As for the Pickup Points, back when ebay introduced this new option, in the email it sent to everyone... but evidently not everyone read it... it was clearly written that the service was automatically active only if it had not been explicitly removed, so yes, tacit consent meant that whoever wanted to could join voluntarily.
But this isn't an argument for you, since evidently it's too complicated, but for the whole community that reads and may be interested... anyone who isn't will have to put up with another one of my "sermons".
Have a good day... or not!
