Item delivered, but actually the item is different...
A few days ago I made a purchase, and the item was shipped using the "Pieghi di Libri" shipping method (I think that's what it's called); just a few days after the seller shipped it, I got a notification saying the package was ready for pickup, which made me raise an eyebrow, considering that this type of shipping takes weeks to arrive.
After a few days, I went to the pickup point to collect the said package, and as soon as I got home and opened it, I realized it was actually another package (similar, both in terms of contents and shipping) that I was waiting for from another seller. Moral of the story? The item in question, which I was talking about at the beginning, shows as delivered, but in fact, at least for now, it still hasn't arrived.
Something like this had never happened to me before. What do you do in cases like this?

·2 years agoIf you ordered an item (presumably a book) via regular book shipment (without registered mail) with the eBay system, an eCP code is generated along with the address.
This eCP code is a pickup / identification code that the pickup point uses to register the shipment as a shipment for which eBay will then have to pay it a fee for the service.
So you could use this TRICK to make a book shipment trackable.
If you receive a notification from eBay that the parcel is ready for pickup, it means the parcel has arrived at the pickup point.
Then once you’ve picked it up, I don’t know whether eBay can mark the shipment as delivered (if so, let us know) if this system could serve as a SORT OF tracking.
Kind regards.

OP2 years agoI already know these things, my question is a different one.
Ps: yes, it is a little booklet.

·2 years agoTHAT SAID, the forum and/or community is a virtual place where users interact with each other in their own way and sometimes the discussions may not even concern the original question in the thread posted by the user who started it, who should possibly accept the fact that THEY ARE NOT THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE (if possible).
THAT SAID, from your question I drew some of my own considerations that COULD be useful to some other user reading, and since this is a forum / community and since the question was posted in a board open to all users, THAT’S FINE.
I had read your question but I can’t give you an answer, so wait for someone who knows more or use the search engine, or contact eBay support or contact the pickup point and ask them a few questions.
Kind regards.

·2 years agoIf the book mail doesn’t have a tracking code, how can it show as delivered?
If, on the other hand, it’s a tracked shipment with a corresponding code, they may have notified you only by tracking the parcel and are referring to the parcel with that code.

OP2 years agoExactly, this type of shipment isn't tracked; however, if I choose a pickup point, when it's delivered, eBay notifies me anyway.

·2 years agoGiven that book shipping is LIMITED only to books and magazines, and if it is used for other purposes one could receive a rejection (in case of checks on the contents) from the postal operator.
This low-cost shipping method could be used by making sure that the seller ships only to the pickup point near the buyer's address.
It cannot be implemented automatically, but it could be used for low-cost shipments where buyer and seller find a way to have a dialogue before finalizing the possible purchase.
Kind regards.
