Package delivered to the point of origin, how can I resolve this? | Payments and Shipping

Long story short, I sent a package to a Poste Italiane pickup point (tobacco shop) and the moment I got back home, instead of showing as shipped, the tracking says it was DELIVERED to the pickup point where I sent it from, so I went to check but they say the courier has already picked up the package. Now I’m here with the customer who thinks I’ve scammed him, I asked him to wait a week to see if the package eventually arrives... but how could something like this happen? Did they scan the package wrong? I had brought 2 packages, one went through just fine, and this happened with the other one.
