Package returned to sender
Summary: The discussion concerns the topic of the 'package returned to sender.' However, the recorded messages do not contain any descriptive or detailed content that would make it possible to understand the specific situations or opinions expressed by the participants.
Good morning,
I sold an item to someone in Spain.
I used Packlink's integrated service (choosing Crono Poste Internazionale).
Yesterday the buyer contacted me saying they had seen from the tracking that the parcel had been sent back.
I checked and in fact on the postal website I find:
"The shipment was not collected by the recipient and will be returned to the sender"
What doesn’t make sense to me is that from the postal tracking it looks like the parcel never left Italy, or anyway the time between arriving at the hub and being put into return is too short

Any advice on how to proceed?
What could have happened?
I’ve made many shipments and this is the first time something like this has happened to me
Thanks a lot

·2 years agoSimply that, since the necessary customs documentation was missing (or insufficient), the package was sent back to the sender and you need to ask them for any possible reimbursement.

·2 years agoAs I wrote earlier, this isn't the first time I've bought from this guy. If information was missing, the notice would appear or at least I should have been contacted.

·2 years agoIt doesn’t matter much if you’ve already dealt with this seller and things have gone smoothly.
When it comes to customs, there’s never any reason to relax.
If the seller did everything according to established practice and the tracking shows that the requirements for releasing the shipment are missing (see in the tracking what these requirements are, or go to a physical post office because there they have the ability to access more detailed tracking than the online version available to the public)
If the tracking shows that the sender’s documentation was missing, you can get a refund through the eBay procedure with some confidence.
If the tracking shows that the necessary documentation was not provided on YOUR side, I see it as a little more difficult but not impossible, so you can still try opening a claim for item not received.
Let us know how this turns out if you’d like.
Kind regards.

·1 year agoHello, I shipped a package to the USA with UPS and the buyer doesn't want to pay the customs duties. What will happen now?
heavenwelkin
·1 year agoHi elettrovintage
What happens is that the package stays at customs for some time and then is returned to the sender.
With UPS, the return shipping costs to the sender should be covered, and you shouldn’t have to pay anything for the package to come back to Italy.
As for eBay, IN THEORY you would be right in the event of a dispute for item not received, but that’s far from certain.
The advice I’d give you is to try to avoid opening disputes by contacting the buyer and explaining that if they don’t collect the package they risk losing both the item and the money, since these are import costs and it’s normal for them to exist.
If the buyer won’t hear reason, keep us updated on how things develop so we can see if we can help you out.
Sorry for the inconvenience

·2 years agoI had the same problem too with shipping a graphics card to Spain. Package sent back to the sender with the note "probably dangerous goods" or something like that.
In these cases, has anyone managed to get the shipping refunded?
I bought the label on paccofacile. It was an insured shipment that cost 36 euros.
I wouldn't want to lose the shipping money too on top of the eBay sale that's now fallen through.
I forgot to say that they marked the reason as "batteries", which of course were not in the package

·2 years agoHi, same exact situation with a package sent abroad via Crono Poste and it also ended up in Lonate Pozzolo (VA) for me. No refund and package returned in a very short time. I deduce that the package never left the city or region while the payment was made for abroad. Products that clear customs and no explanation for the failed transfer. Zero transparency! But they took the money gladly! It’s been happening to almost everyone for years now!

·2 years agoImagine a place where there are customs officers who, if they don’t instantly understand (in a few seconds) what’s inside the parcel, label it as PROBABLY DANGEROUS GOODS and send it straight back without wasting time there.
When you’re dealing with situations like this, the options I see are:
A) You avoid this service (crono internazionale)
B) You lie and write CLOTHING (with all the risks involved) and manage to complete customs clearance.
I also tried putting sheets in the parcels with CUBITAL LETTERS in RED writing:
This is a replacement part for a notebook that DOES NOT CONTAIN BATTERIES, DOES NOT CONTAIN LIQUIDS, DOES NOT CONTAIN dangerous or prohibited goods.
Then I inserted the signed declaration where I declare that the goods can be exported and I take full responsibility and blah blah blah
If you get the lazy operator, the parcel goes back to the sender with the paperwork still INTACT 🤣😂
Then we, after having thrown a shipment to the wind, besides the problems with the buyer, have to sit there going crazy trying to understand why the parcel came back .......
In international shipments, experience makes a big difference.
Kind regards.

·2 years agoIt happened to me too! Shipped to Spain with Crono Internazionale and customs bounced the package back, marking it as "probable D.G.R. (dangerous good regulation)". And now I have to pay for another shipment out of my own pocket? What incompetents... obviously there was no dangerous goods inside the package, but then again I had wrapped everything in bubble wrap and they didn’t even unwrap it, so just imagine the thorough checks they must have done... Idiots.

·2 years agoStill having these problems with the Italian postal customs?
I had the same problem 3 years ago and then 2 years ago and I was hoping they had fixed it by now.
Unfortunately yes, you have to pay out of pocket for a new shipment, and I recommend using a courier like UPS, FedEx, or DHL, which have a customs inspection/handling service carried out by competent people.
The shipping label generated by Packlink was supposed to list the contents as "clothing" (assuming they haven't changed that too in the meantime...), unfortunately because of these INCOMPETENT people at customs you're "forced" to declare false information, otherwise for uncommon items they can't recognize they send them back.
I'm sorry for what happened.
Kind regards.

·2 years agoI confirm that they haven’t made any changes and there’s still the wording clothing... In fact I never know whether to leave it like that to keep a low profile or correct it by hand... I wouldn’t want them to see the handwritten correction and then check my package specifically. Anyway, if it were up to me I wouldn’t choose international tracking, but it’s clear that if it costs me €12 and anything else starts at €20, I’m kind of forced to.

·2 years agoDHL, for international parcels, REQUIRES that at the time of pickup the package be open and inspectable by the courier because they want to avoid shipping PROHIBITED goods.
According to this principle, it sometimes happens that parcels coming from the Euro area and remaining within the Euro zone are sent back to the sender.
I don't really know what happens in these cases and how the circumstances come about that make it possible to reject a parcel and return it to the sender.
Also because parcels can simply show only the waybill and no other attached documentation is necessary.
Leave it like that, don't make handwritten corrections, send it as it is with the waybill CLOTHING or, if anything, avoid international chrono and use UPS; always in the shipping manager there is a different waybill, an internal customs check, and no parcel contents are listed.
Kind regards.

·2 years agoWere you able to get a refund from packlink for the shipping that was unfairly refused?
heavenwelkin
·2 years agoThe problem arises when you ship an item they don't recognize, but the problem is THEIRS and not yours, since shipping within the European Union shouldn't involve this kind of issue.
They know VERY WELL that they are causing a hassle because they could hold the package and contact the sender, who could provide a declaration regarding the contents of the package or a sales receipt certifying the contents of the package.
Crono Internazionale is a service to avoid.
Anyway, since this is the European Union and you were not required to attach anything other than the shipping label, try contacting packlink by opening a support ticket and explaining what happened. I don't think you'll get a refund, but it doesn't hurt to try.
And maybe ask if they reverse the shipment charge and then take another service like UPS, for example.
Kind regards.

·3 years agoIt seems there was a problem at customs...
We're missing a detail that seems unimportant but actually isn't...
In Spain, but WHERE?
Because there are areas of Spain (e.g. the Canaries or the Plazas de soberania) that are outside the EU, so export customs documents are required.
heavenwelkin
·3 years agoAs you rightly wrote, the tracking shows that the package has not left Italy.
Try using the 17track service to track it and see if it gives you any more details.
heavenwelkin
·3 years agoSorry, I reread it more carefully and saw that you shipped to Spain.
What shipping service did you use? International Crono?
That customs office is a real pain.
truly absurd things happen when packages go through them........
Contact them somehow if you can.

·3 years agoGood morning av_4fun_game
If you used international Priority Mail to make an extra-European shipment, almost certainly the parcel will come back to you with the note: likely non-importable goods.
So you will lose the shipping costs.
It happened to me 3 times.
Basically, whoever handles this customs office, as soon as they find a note they don't understand, don't know, don't grasp, for "safety" and to avoid problems, sends everything back to the sender.
In these cases the only SENSIBLE thing to do is use UPS, DHL, FeDex, TNT customs, which is much more competent and specialized and, if in doubt, will contact you rather than returning the shipment to the sender.
Sorry about what happened.
Best regards.
