Packlink / shipping and payment manager
Good morning everyone, as always, or rather often, I sold something and I’m about to buy the shipping through ebay and packlink. Since yesterday though it won’t let me pay, I tried with Paypal and I get "Problem with your payment method. Try again.". Tried with a credit card, I enter the details, click, and nothing. I changed browser and nothing after clearing cache etc etc.
I asked ebay for support, and nothing. Packlink is not their responsibility.
Contacting Packlink is not possible.
Honestly I wanted to use UPS through ebay/packlink, since buying it through other platforms costs me almost triple.
Has anyone run into the same problem and solved it?
Thanks.

·3 years agoP.S. I forgot to attach the most important link...
https://community.ebay.co.uk/t5/Seller-Central/PACKLINK-Read-this-if-you-ve-received-an-underpayment-notice-and/td-p/6432182/page/30
When I received Packlink's unfair invoices, I was looking for as much information as possible before warning them that I would report them for extortion.
May my old research help others avoid Packlink's scams and its automatic payments!

OP3 years agoThank you, and I had read your thread.
So far this has never happened to me.... except for this strange experience yesterday and today with payments being "denied" and then working another way. I think it's a bug.
Anyway, I removed automatic payments, we'll see if this strange thing happens to me too..... what a world...

·3 years agoIn the past I also had problems with denied payments on Ebay-Packlink and in the end I only made the payment after 2 days, 계속 refreshing the page... luckily the buyer wasn’t in a hurry.
As far as I remember, it would also get stuck if I made a new shipment from the manager.
As for the other issue I dealt with previously with the invoices, the more you ship with Packlink, the more you risk getting one of these scams, even though in the end I managed to solve it.
Have a good evening 🙂

·3 years agoPacklink can even try to take very large amounts without any valid reason, I’m not the only one complaining, they do everything automatically without notice.
I’m attaching the following link:
https://community.ebay.it/t5/Archive-Spedizioni/packlink-truffa-i-soldi-in-automatico/td-p/850615
The only way to defend yourself is to disable automatic payments, then later request cancellations of any unjustified invoices via email.

Yes, correct point. But it was a shipment abroad, and the prices go up quite a bit.
Anyway, I think I managed to solve it, I’ll explain how, maybe it can help someone:
From the shipping manager link, while it kept giving me a price error (when usually there’s the price + VAT and total to pay), I created a new shipment, typing in all the details by hand.
By doing that I was able to pay....let’s say as if I had been on the Packlink site, and not through eBay.
Mystery....and not all that clear and straightforward either.
Anyway, I was reading the thread on Packlink and weight adjustments: it’s scary.
I’ll start using it much, much less. Crazy....

·3 years agoBefore sending the credit notes to be charged, Packlink will try to make any charges WITHOUT ANY NOTICE both on the Paypal account and on the associated credit card...
...I had received the attempted payment notifications from Auctane Packlink directly on my PostePay app...
If you want to be 100% safe, every time you buy any label through Packlink, cancel the automatic payments.
Now I’ll explain how to do it.
Go to the following link:
https://www.paypal.com/it/smarthelp/article/come-posso-annullare-un-abbonamento-o-altri-pagamenti-automatici-faq2254
Click on ''Payments'' and immediately look for Auctane Packlink among the automatic payments and disable the agreement.
You will receive a confirmation email every time you cancel the authorization.
Usually you can find the last payment made to them before canceling.
This operation will not prevent you from buying new labels, it simply prevents unjustified charges from Packlink.
Remember that every time you buy a new label, the agreement renews automatically, and you will have to disable the automatic payments feature again.
I recommend disabling this option after buying each single label... prevention is better than cure!
I sell with another account, trust my experience, have a good day! 🙂

·3 years agoI attached the link to your post that I had read so that the poster could get an idea of the situations that can arise.
Congratulations on the explanations and your contribution, which will help other users. 👍 I’m not getting into the matter because I’ve never used a shipping broker; my only aim was just to spread information.
Good evening. 👋👋

·3 years agoThanks for reading my post, I hope I can help anyone who finds themselves in the same situation.
You're absolutely right to never use brokers!
Have a good evening 🙂

If you want to be competitive on eBay, you need to use a shipping service with 24/48 hour delivery at reasonable prices.
If you rely directly on SDA, UPS, BRT, GLS, etc. as a private individual, you pay 3 or 4 times the price you would pay with a broker.
A shipment that costs 7 euros would cost you 25 euros if purchased directly from a courier.
The broker has contracts for large shipping volumes with the various carriers, and that is why they have very favorable rates.
In any case, the Subito site also acts as a shipping broker with discounted rates for all users of the tuttoesubito service.
I’m writing this for the sake of completeness for those who read it, so as to offer more food for thought.
Kind regards.

OP3 years agoExactly... you always have to check a bit anyway, because sometimes even ebay/packlink are not always worth it. In today's case:
- ebay/packlink: around €11
- packlink website: €36 + VAT !!!
- sendabox: around €24
For the same UPS drop off service.
As for the second question, through spedizioni.ebay.it. Which leaves me quite puzzled. I mean, I created a shipment there from scratch with the buyer's ebay details. But at that point can I create a shipment to send any item that was NOT sold on ebay?
Something I wouldn't do (also because you enlightened me about the "old" shipping manager) also because, after taking stock of various experiences (ebay and non-ebay), I usually use paccofacile as a broker.

OP3 years agoNothing, even though everything seems ok, at the time of payment, even before choosing the method, it gives an error (even though weight, carrier and price were clear and calculated). I’m adding a reference screenshot.
At this point I think it’s a Packlink problem.

·3 years agoIn fact I was just suggesting that you try making the purchase from the link I had attached.
If you wrote that the problem happens both with PayPal and with a direct credit card, the problem is either with your banking service and/or Visa/Mastercard card, or it’s a problem with Packlink.
stez79
OP3 years agoYes, I’d say the latter. On my side PayPal has no issues. On the card side I don’t think so (I used it this morning to top up my phone). Also, the error appears before choosing the payment method.
Still curious that the price (for the same service) is different (but maybe with the link you gave me VAT has to be added, if I’m not mistaken...I seem to remember that).
All that’s left for me is to wait, and then decide.
Too bad it’s not possible anyway to open a ticket or otherwise get support from Packlink.
Thanks and have a nice Sunday.

·3 years agoI can’t give you 1 answer on that, only packlink can. But if you want 1 piece of advice, ship it on your own, read the various posts on the user forum from people who have had problems with overweight packages and subsequent debit invoices. For a few euros of savings, many have paid or have risked paying tens of euros more.

OP3 years agoThanks for the reply....but I also say that I’ve used the automatic ebay/packlink shipping many times without ever having had weight issues.
I did have a couple of cases with Poste/EMS, but it could have been my mistake.
Besides, I don’t think the responsibility for weighing can be blamed on Packlink, but directly on the carrier.
I’ll go ahead and ship it myself, if only so as not to delay it, even though I don’t find eBay’s buck-passing professional and Packlink’s lack of contactability either (but by now we’re used to this kind of thing in everyday life).
Too bad that the same shipment through ebay/packlink costs about €11, directly from the Packlink site €36 + VAT... 😕
I’ll try one last shot from a tablet....

·3 years agoGood morning stez79
I have been using the packlink + ebay service since it was introduced on ebay and it has always worked well.
I am speaking from personal experience and not from hearsay or based on reviews on trustpilot.
The most recurring problems are when the seller makes a mistake writing the weight and dimensions, then rarely it happens to make a mistake during weighing, other times it happens that a courier has a postal code entered in remote areas or subject to a surcharge when perhaps on the broker it is not detected. No service is free from errors unfortunately.
Regarding the issue, try contacting packlink by opening a support ticket through the site https://spedizioni.ebay.it/private or through the official site packlink.it
Kind regards.

OP3 years agoThanks for the reply.
I agree with what you write.
Unfortunately I can't get in touch with Packlink, because for a ticket you need a Packklink code for a shipment that has been purchased, which of course I don't have.
More than anything, I ask you something else: from the link provided, it sends me automatically to the "old-style" shipping manager, the one I used months or years ago. Which is different from the link for creating the label that eBay usually sends automatically after payment by the buyer.
Now I'll try following that link and see if I'll be luckier.
Otherwise I'll purchase the shipping in another way.

·3 years agoYou're welcome ... for what I can... my answer is based not on experience, since I have never used a shipping manager, but on what I happened to read on the forum. I'm just attaching the link to one post from a user who is actually talking about packlink, I think it could be useful to you.
https://community.ebay.it/t5/Supporto-Tra-Utenti/Notifica-di-recupero-crediti-PACKLINK-%C3%A8-una-truffa/td-p/967037
You're right when you say that the weighing is not done directly by packlink, but maybe that's why there are problems with the weights that then don't match. But then it's packlink that sends you invoices for weights/dimensions greater than the brackets purchased.
I don't know what you need to ship, but if you use Poste Italiane's standard parcel delivery you pay 9.40 euros up to 3 kg and up. For a little more than 10 euros you can ship up to 5 kg, anyway you can find all the info on weights and dimensions on the Poste Italiane website. The hassle is that you have to go to the post office yourself (you can go later in the day or in the afternoon to avoid the queue) but you'll have the weighing done in front of you at the counter, with no later risk of falsified weight checks.
