Packlink charges me an extra €22 + VAT for a package under 2 kg that they say weighs 30 kg!!!

Packlink from Ebay sent me a price adjustment for a shipment today
Declared: Volumetric Weight 1.63 Kg/m3 / 34cm x 24cm x 8cm.
Actual: Volumetric Weight 30.03 kg/m3 / 42.5cm x 36cm x 78.5cm.
Reason for the adjustment: Surcharge for excess Volumetric Weight Kg/m3. The volumetric weight audited by the carrier is higher than what was declared by the user.
The surcharge amounts to 22.04 euros + VAT
So according to them, a book that weighed less than 2 kg, with a label created directly by Ebay and a regular invoice, actually weighed 30 kg.
This happened almost two months after the shipment.
To contest this charge, they are asking me for a photo of the package on a scale, showing its weight, with the label clearly visible, which I didn't take at the time.
It seems unbelievable.
Has anyone run into a situation like this?

·3 weeks agoobviously you’ve never read the community posts ........ since Packlink ( aka eBay shipping manager...... ) from time to time has these "outbursts" and here on the forum it’s been discussed repeatedly.....

OP3 weeks agoYes, it's true, now I've read all the previous posts. I bought a postal-scale-type scale yesterday, enough to weigh and measure the padded envelopes with which I send books. We'll see what they'll come up with. Thanks anyway for the reply

·3 weeks agoit often happens, dimensional weight is calculated differently, but if the error is obvious I’d tell you to start a chargeback procedure with your bank, for obvious errors I’ve won the dispute.
