PostePay payment
Hi, I bought an order with Postepay by mistake, usually I always pay with PayPal, but this time it said pay with Mastercard (and so my Postepay) and I only realized it right when I paid. I wanted to ask you, since this Postepay is connected to PayPal anyway, so that whenever I pay with PayPal the money is taken from the Postepay, am I protected by PayPal in this case too?

OP2 years agoActually, I was thinking, is it possible to ask the seller for a partial refund? So I can still keep the item, but get some help with the repair? Once I’ve at least gotten a rough idea of the cost?

·2 years agoThe sale of used smartphones with replaced displays caused by a fall and the resulting breakage, which are not disclosed in the description, is a fairly common situation.
In these cases the buyer can ask the seller (before buying) whether the phone has ever been repaired or other questions related to repairs with original components.
You can try asking whether the seller will agree to a partial refund for the non-original display, but if he says no you need to open a dispute for item not as described and then send the phone back without touching it, just as marioelegio wrote to you.
After all, this is not really a repair, since the phone is working.
It is a phone with a non-original display that is certainly of lower quality than the original.
An original replacement display would surely cost as much as the whole used phone.
So in that case, return it and buy another one that has never undergone repairs or part replacements.
Best regards.

OP2 years agoI’ll follow your advice. I’ll definitely return the item if the replacement price is high. And clearly if the seller refuses to proceed with an agreement on a partial refund. I’ll keep you updated, regards 🙂

OP2 years agoGreat, 30 days is more than enough to decide what to do, forgive my ignorance, but the seller won't receive my balance, which I paid with, until after 30 days?. As for the phone, actually it was more than urgent because I wanted it to be a Christmas gift. I'll see if I can get it repaired in the next 3 days, which is possible but still difficult. But if they write perfect conditions, for me perfect means the device shouldn't have problems like this, so it doesn't conform and moreover it wasn't specified that the display had been replaced. I'll know for sure tomorrow after the technician I spoke with today takes a look at the phone to help me understand what problems it has, after which I'll see how best to proceed. Thank you very much for your availability

·2 years agoIf someone opens that phone, no warranty applies anymore (neither eBay’s nor PayPal’s or credit card’s).
If you want to return it, no one can tamper with it.

OP2 years agoOkay, thanks for the info, I hadn’t thought of that. I asked the seller about availability. They were helpful during shipping but haven’t yet replied with a possible solution. At this point I’ll only have it checked once I know how much it’s going to cost, and I’ll know that by tomorrow anyway. Thanks a lot, talk soon 🙂

·2 years agoTo condense what @heavenwelkin rightly said:
The seller doesn’t know what you paid with: eBay tells them that you’ve paid and they can go ahead with shipping.
So if you told them you paid with CdC instead of PP, they don’t really care...
For eBay, you still have full protection as if you had paid with PP.
So don’t worry too much and wait with confidence...

OP2 years agoSo hi, yes, I repeat, I paid with Mastercard, but it’s a Postepay Evolution, I know it’s unfortunately prepaid… but maybe I’m mistaken, luckily today the package arrived but guess what? It’s not fully as described. The item is a phone but I’ll have to get the display replaced because it’s not original and if it doesn’t cost me too much ( I’ll know tomorrow ) I’ll turn a blind eye ( actually two ), but if it costs me as much as I paid for it I’d like to go straight for a refund. How long do I have from today, when I received the item, until I can actually start the return?

·2 years agoYou have 30 days from the estimated delivery date to open a case for an item not as described.
So do all the checks and assessments needed in your case.
To open a case for an item not as described, start from this link:
https://www.ebay.it/help/buying/returns-refunds/restituisci-un-oggetto-cambio-di-un-rimborso?id=4041
If you need the phone urgently, let’s say that from opening the case, discussing with the seller, possible intervention by eBay, shipping times, refund times, it can take from two to three weeks to get your money back.
Kind regards.

OP2 years agoSo, if I understood correctly, since mine is a Postepay Evolution, it’s neither a credit card nor a debit card, it’s a prepaid card… basically I have to pray it goes through or am I wrong? In any case, I’ve already requested to cancel the order. Assuming they do it and prove to be a reliable person, I can then place it again with PayPal. But even so, the transaction also shows up on PayPal, does that mean nothing?

·2 years agoGood evening michele-3251
On eBay you can pay with PayPal and with a credit card (in your case Postepay), both methods offer buyer protection so you can rest assured.
So wait for your order to arrive and if there are any problems with the purchase, you can come back here to the forum.
Kind regards.

OP2 years agoI don't know, there's a bit of confusion, I have a Postepay account, yes, but my enabled physical card is the Postepay Evolution… which I know is a prepaid card, I'll wait. I sent the seller a couple of messages but he hasn't replied. So I'll wait until tomorrow, hoping everything works out for the best. Nothing, gentlemen, I hope I don't have to come back here, except to thank you haha

·2 years agoBut what did you write to the seller in those two messages?
On eBay, if you pay with PayPal you get redirected to the PayPal page where you have to enter your email or phone number and password.
If instead you pay with Postepay Evolution, you’re asked to enter the card number (the 16 numeric digits on the front of your Postepay), then the expiration date and a three-digit code that is usually found on the back of the card.
The seller does not receive the payment directly, but eBay receives the payment you made and then transfers it to the seller via bank transfer.
It doesn’t matter whether you paid with PayPal or Postepay Evolution because eBay gives you 30 days starting from the estimated delivery date to open any claim for item not received or item not as described.
So for now the only thing you need to do is wait for the tracking code and monitor the shipment until delivery.
Kind regards.

OP2 years agoAh, so can I relax or not? I mean, assuming the package doesn’t arrive, from 1 to 10 how likely is it that I can get a refund with the eBay guarantee?
marioelegio
·2 years agoIf you follow the procedures correctly. Read this …. https://pages.ebay.it/acquistare/garanzia-cliente/

·2 years agoNo, you’re not protected by PayPal.
Anyway, you still have both eBay’s guarantee and Mastercard’s.
