Paid for tracked shipping and the seller shipped untracked
Summary: vintage-game expressed concern about paying for tracked shipping, but the seller sent the package without tracking. vonbalden and heavenwelkin have responded, potentially to discuss similar issues or provide advice.
Hi, as mentioned in the title, I bought a book and the seller, for shipping, offered only poste delivery standard (that is, the old ordinary postal parcel) for 10 euros, which is trackable. Well, after a few days I noticed that in reality he had shipped it, but with a non-trackable method (I suspect piego libri), at a price definitely lower. I wrote to the seller asking him to provide me with the tracking code, but he never replied again (two days have already passed). I wanted to ask you, when the parcel is delivered to me (hoping it reaches me) and I realize that it is indeed a non-trackable method, whether I could ask for a refund for the difference in the shipping cost paid. Because beyond the fact that it may be 6-7 euros to be refunded, what really bothers me is the completely fraudulent and shameless way in which he is making a profit on the shipping, even exposing himself to the concrete risk that the parcel gets lost, since it is not trackable.
Thanks for your attention and any replies

First of all, a poste delivery standard on ebay shipping costs 5.11 euros and a piego libri costs 1.45 euros, so the difference would be 3.66 euros.
If you paid 10 euros for shipping, you also have to take into account the related shipping and packaging costs, so the calculation you made of a 6 or 7 euro difference is consistent.
On ebay you can open a dispute only for item not received or for item not as described, so you necessarily have to fit the problem into one of these two types of disputes.
If the seller really shipped with piego libri, you can safely open a dispute for item not received as soon as the estimated delivery deadline expires.
Once the dispute is opened, the seller will have to attach a tracking code; if he does not, he loses the item and the money.
So it is up to you to decide whether it is worth proceeding this way or letting it go.
Obviously, if you start arguing with the seller via ebay messages asking for a refund of the difference and then decide to open a dispute, this could affect the outcome of the dispute.
Kind regards.

·11 months agoSellers are required by the rules to ship within the stated days and to use the shipping system chosen by the buyer. As soon as the shipment is made, the platform lets you track the shipment route on the graph. If there are doubts or second thoughts based on the purchase choice, there is no point in juggling a flurry of hypotheses. The order is canceled and you are refunded by ebay. Learning from the experience so as to avoid, beforehand, the possibility of a purchase choice that is not convincing. For example, if I ask for clarification about an item (that is not already described in the listing) and the seller does not reply and is not obliged to do so, as the buyer I do not dig in my heels. Because they could be the signs of very poor service. And of course, I turn elsewhere. Best wishes from von
