Hello eBayani,
has anyone among you ever had any experience with this mysterious message I saw today on the Poste Italiane/SDA tracking?
"The shipment is in transit at Hub Centro"
Basically Hub Centro, without showing any city or specific location.
From the integrated eBay tracking, I only get shown the text "The shipment is in transit", again without mentioning any specific city.
I've never had this happen before.
I mentioned SDA because, being an Ordinary Package, around here this type of shipment is still delivered by SDA and not by the regular postman/postwoman.
Never had any experience with this?
I can't find anything about it online.
Best regards.

·7 months agoThis is already the second time it’s happened to me too, the first time the package stayed in transit for months and when I filed the claim they refunded me (I had ordered on Vinted), but the seller never got the package back. I don’t know whether it gets regularly lost or stolen, because right now I have the same problem but I’m the one selling…Italian post is unreliable.

·1 year agoHi
It’s happening to me right now
In the end, how did it turn out with you? Did the package you were waiting for arrive? Or had it been lost?
Thanks

·1 year agoHello, after seeing in the tracking in recent days the status "in transit" Bologna Hub Espresso. This morning "in transit" Hub Centro () appeared for me
I tried to contact customer service and all they could tell me was: I can't see anything, I only know it's in transit
I also took a quick look at your comments but I didn't find a solution
According to the tracking, delivery was expected today

·1 year agoI'll tell you what I think, but don't take it as reliable information.
In my opinion, when these HUBs are packed full of parcels, they move them to other warehouses that can even be far apart, and that's why they use the HUB wording without specifying the location.
Italian post has a hard time handling the volume of parcels that comes in during certain periods.
Same goes for the customs of Italian post.
They find themselves understaffed during periods of heavy parcel traffic.

·1 year agoyou've only said a load of nonsense, just go on google to know where the Central Hub is, the North Hub and so on. Easy to type, right?

·1 year agoIt's an old post and I don't remember what I replied, I don't feel like going back to reread what I had written to you because I don't find your comment useful to me or to others.
If you found the answer on google, share it with the forum.
For the rest, I think it's fine like this.
Kind regards.

·2 years agoSo speaking from experience, the wording HUB CENTRO refers to the SDA depot in Rome Pomezia, and HUB CENTRO NORD to the depot in Milan.

·3 years agoHello, I wrote 5 minutes ago about my experience and right after that I checked the tracking and it says "out for delivery", so I’m back to confirm: whether it really is the Hub in Central Italy or not, there’s nothing abnormal, and (far be it from me to defend Poste Italiane, since they’re as useful as a finger in a place where the sun doesn’t shine) they are required anyway to send it there first and then route it to the final destination, and technically, if the whole process happens within the guaranteed delivery times, they’re not even making any mistake or delay (actually).
So yes, even for parcels (for example) on the Catanzaro-Cosenza or Lecce-Taranto route, it’s possible to pass first through a Hub that’s on the other side of the Universe, there’s nothing abnormal.
I hope I’ve been helpful to you (especially to the fellow from Brindisi who seemed rightly puzzled to me).
Best regards!

·3 years agoHi, I hope you solved it in time, but having run into the same situation and having found your account, I’m replying with my own experience too (even if 2 years late) because maybe it can be useful to other future users, as it was for me. I’ll be detailed, so I hope I don’t bore anyone.
Basically, as in the case of the Palermo-Messina guy, in my case too the parcel was supposed to cover an extremely short route (40 minutes by car), but since it was a return I preferred to go through Poste Italiane with an Insured Standard shipment rather than deliver it in person.
I’m also in Southern Italy and I also saw “IN TRANSIT AT HUB CENTRO” among the tracking steps.
Thinking it was a Hub in Central Italy (since sometimes Hub Nord and Hub Sud can also appear), and considering the route unusual, I first contacted customer service via the toll-free number, and then the post office in my area, which was the most specialized in shipments.
From the call center reached through customer service I got little information, and even that was poor, a total lack of willingness to help the customer, and on top of that they answer you in a snappy way as if you were asking a stupid question, when the only one who should have been snappy was me considering the half hour spent getting the automatic voice assistant off my c0ck. Without even asking for the tracking number, the operator told me that yes, it was a hub in central Italy, but that the situation was not unusual and in any case nothing could be done.
At the post office, on the other hand, after I provided the tracking number, I was kindly told that their system showed the parcel had been sent to an SDA SHIPPING CENTER, (which on my tracking was indeed called Hub Centro) and that delivery would happen shortly.
This makes me think that HUB CENTRO can mean anything and nothing, maybe it’s a generic way to refer to any SDA shipping center, even a local one, or maybe it really means it’s in Central Italy, but it was sent there only to then be sent back to the destination area simply because that was the most functional SDA hub for handling that specific type of shipment (in my case a plain Standard 4-day one).

·2 years agoand then how much time passed from when she went to the post office to when the package actually arrived? because I'm from Naples, I sent a package to Calabria that was supposed to arrive 2 weeks ago, but on the Poste app it says in transit Hub Centro.

·3 years agoI'm in the same situation. Package shipped from Brindisi on February 27 and headed to La Spezia, since the 28th it has been stuck at Hub Centro. It's my first shipment handled through eBay...

·3 years agoEbay handles nothing.
It only has an agreement with a broker that sells its services on ebay. You purchased from Packlink.
Packlink sold you a shipment with a courier: Poste, SDA, DHL, UPS.....

·3 years agoIn fact I didn’t write "managed by eBay", but through eBay, or rather through the service it makes available. The blame for the delays lies entirely with Poste Italiane (the courier for my shipment), though the same Poste, through Ioinvio, one of their online services that I’ve used for years, has never disappointed me.
I don’t know what to think...
actar80
·3 years agoWait until tomorrow since the shipment left on February 27, there may be delays in updating the tracking, which will then update with the whole route, maybe on the last day; this happened to me once, rare but it can happen. Also consider that if on the 27th the shipment left after 1 or 2 p.m., that is, the shipping cutoff time, the package was accepted but only departs the next day.
If even tomorrow the situation doesn't get unstuck, go to the Poste website and in the shipping section you’ll find the contacts section; choose whether to contact them by phone or fill out the complaint form.

·3 years agoThanks a lot for the guidance!
actar80
·3 years agoSure... I'll take the opportunity to add that lately when you try to contact them by phone, a (idiotic) virtual assistant answers, and to try to get through to an operator, don't answer the preset questions and say "I want to speak to an operator." In my case it worked and they put me through to the call center. I hope it's still possible.
And once you manage to speak to someone, also complain about the fact that, as a customer, you want these assistants eliminated because they are nothing more than a way to confuse people, especially the more vulnerable ones.
Have a good day
marioelegio
·3 years agoNo, the postal services will not accept the claim. You have to do it through Packlink, that's why I had put the link.

·3 years agoAh...ok Mario, I thought that after purchasing the shipment, if there were problems with it, one had to contact the carrier and not the broker. Then I see it as more difficult if you have to contact the broker.
I apologize to the original poster for getting confused about who is responsible in the post-purchase stage of the shipment, but I have no experience with brokers.
Thanks Mario and have a good day.

·4 years agoLogistics mysteries.
The mystery of the wording "In transit Hub Center" remains unresolved.
It appears to me for a package shipped from Palermo and headed toward the province of Messina...
discanto61
·4 years agoSame thing for a package I'm waiting for too, shipped from Trapani to Rome. I had thought that Hub Centro meant that the package had arrived at the Hub in central Italy, but from what you write if the same information is on a tracking between Palermo and Messina, it just means the package is generally in transit in some sorting center, where exactly who knows, it could still be in Sicily.
morgana10
·4 years agoUnfortunately since October 1, 2021 Poste Italiane has absorbed Nexive and when shipments are entrusted to them the tracking is not detailed (being generic is part of their "modus operandi"). If everyone filed a complaint from the dedicated Poste Italiane page (under tracking search) maybe, hopefully, they could take some action.

gabrimilito80
·3 years agomy order also says "in transit at Hub Centro" since Friday, the problem is that it was supposed to arrive today but nothing... the shop on eBay where I bought it is a little over 100km from my city (both in southern Italy) so it’s unclear how it ended up at the hub centro, especially because before the wording "in transit at Hub Centro" it made a short trip getting closer; in fact now it’s about 85km from my city, so it can’t have gotten closer only to then move away.
fedemirt-0
·3 years agoActually, that’s not how it is. No courier can come up with specific routes for every shipment. For example, that one package might only have needed to go from Palermo to Messina; they can’t send an empty truck, or evaluate the various routes day by day. It’s likely, though, that every evening all the packages leaving Palermo are taken — regardless of destination — to HUB CENTRO (Rome). Probably every morning there’s a truck leaving Hub Centro headed for Messina, with whatever package needs to get to Messina. In this way, it doesn’t really matter where your package has to go from and to, but with two dedicated trucks (still full of other packages), the courier is sure to be able to get the package to its destination in 24/48h. The routes of all couriers are standard and all refer to one or two Hubs precisely for this reason.
