·1 year agoWhen you open an eBay listing, under shipping it also tells you where the item is located.
If the item is not located in Italy, you need to find out because the variables are different regarding purchases made outside Italy depending on whether:
you use eBay's international shipping service
if the items exceed a certain price amount
So depending on the case, you may only pay VAT to eBay
or
You may pay VAT + duties + courier charges when collecting the goods.

OP1 year agoThe responses are not relevant to what I wrote. I’m aware that I have to pay import taxes and shipping, but I want to know that before making the purchase.

You can’t know that from eBay, but YOU HAVE to know it... if you import where it is not expressly stated that the English or American seller ships with the Global Shopping Programm, it’s your responsibility to know it.

I realize that you needed a clear, straightforward answer, but unfortunately there are many variables at play.
But your question was also a bit too generic.
Next time, include the auction you want to buy and we’ll tell you roughly how much you’d be likely to spend.

Can the seller or eBay predict who the item will be sold to?
Obviously not, and so anyone who is aware that they are importing an item must also know the implications.
