Shipping problem. Shipping with fewer packages than indicated in the listing.
Good evening,
I made a sale and in the listing I had written that the item would be sent in four packages.
While packing them, I realized that three would be enough.
Do you think that if I ship it in three packages I could run into a possible negative feedback? I don't see why, but more than anything I'd like to understand whether the buyer could latch onto this to give me trouble...
The cost of the three packages is still higher than what the buyer paid for shipping.

·2 years agoa pallet of 87 kg would cost you 34 euros VAT included.
I’m sending you the broker’s link so you can check weight, size, and destination.
You need to choose pallet instead of parcel.
Then a courier comes to pick up the pallet from your home.

OP2 years agoRightly, you’re suggesting that I be careful about making 3 parcels instead of 4 because the buyer might complain about it.
But then you suggest that I change courier, while in the listing I wrote poste delivery express. If I change it, then they might complain about that too. And leave me negative feedback.
Anyway, the parcels weigh 29 kg each, so the amount per parcel comes to 28.90 euros.
I think I’ll contact the buyer before shipping, saying that I managed to make three parcels and we’ll see their reaction.

·2 years agobeing too specific, in my opinion, is a mistake: so in the future it’s better to say that you’ll use the courier (without getting too specific).........
as for online brokers among couriers there’s also Poste Italiane.... it’s just that you pay less....
finally, if you ship with another courier, but if the service is better or equivalent, the buyer can hardly complain, and anyway you can always warn them beforehand that, for various reasons, you’ll ship with another courier....... anyway, all things said and re-said on the forum (and not only ......): often you just need to look for the information.... and read it (and obviously, take it in.....)

·2 years agoLet’s say that the fact that you wrote that you ship with poste delivery express shouldn’t really be that binding.
In my opinion, shipping 3 packages instead of 4 as per the listing is more of an issue.
I recommend contacting the buyer and asking whether, at the same agreed shipping price, you could arrange a different solution.
Ebay shipping offers shipping up to 29 kg at a lower price, it should be around 21 ~ 22 euros, try taking a look by doing a simulation.

OP2 years ago3 packages of 30 kg make 90 kg of goods to ship.
4 packages of 20 make 80 kg. Where do I put the other 10 kg? Otherwise I would have already done it that way.

·2 years agoPoste Delivery Express directly from Poste Italiane has these rates by weight brackets:
0-3 kg: 13.90 euro
3-5 kg: 16.90 euro
5-10 kg: 18.90 euro
10-20 kg: 21.90 euro
20-30 kg: 28.90 euro
You’ve been given all the information; all that’s left is for you to make your own assessment.

·2 years agoin short: granted that 28.90 per package seems enormous to me...... anyway there isn't only Poste Italiane for shipping..... on the web there are several online brokers where you can find much lower prices ........
as for the 4 packages...... it would have been better not to write it, but since it's already done....... better not to take the risk ...... unless you notify the buyer and you reach a possible later agreement, if they ask you for some hypothetical discount on the shipping.....

Getting straight to the point and looking at your listing
You wrote in the ad that you ship with 4 separate packages for the price of 49 euros.
Now you realize that after receiving 49 euros, you can optimize the shipment into 3 packages.
If I were the buyer and received 3 packages, I would definitely point it out to you because the shipping costs would be 12.25 euros per package.
Now I advise you to contact the buyer and explain that you were able to optimize the shipment into 3 packages instead of 4 packages.
Offer them a discount on the shipping and make sure they are okay with receiving a refund of xx euros.
Alternatively, you can take the risk by pretending nothing happened and, if the buyer were to complain about having paid for 4 shipments, you could then offer a price refund.
But it could also happen that the buyer doesn’t lower themselves to making this kind of request and goes straight to leaving feedback......
If I were you, I wouldn’t take the risk......
You definitely made a mistake by writing in the listing that you shipped in 4 packages.
It would have been better to write in more packages without specifying the number.

OP2 years agoExpress delivery costs 28.90 per parcel.
28.90 x 4 is 115.6 euro, an amount that seemed excessive to me. So I asked for “only” 49 euros for shipping.
Now I’ve seen that I can make three parcels. In any case, the three parcels would cost more than the 49 euros I asked for.

28.90 euros per parcel with shipping in Italy?
Poste delivery express delivers in 1 or 2 working days depending on the area (which all couriers already do), so I don’t see the point of giving money away to Poste Italiane.
Then 28.90 euros per parcel??? But how much does this parcel weigh?
Do you need to insure it?
Take a look at spedizioni.ebay.it and do a simulation with weight and dimensions, you’ll definitely save a lot of money.

·2 years agoYou can also show the buyer the receipts showing that you paid 28.90 euros per package for 3 packages, otherwise 4 packages would have resulted in a much higher shipping cost than what he paid.
But the buyer could dispute the fact that 28.90 euros per package is a very high amount.
So I suggest you take a look around and check on ebay shipping and other shipping brokers.
At any rate, don't think that Poste Italiane in the event of theft or loss will reimburse anything unless the package is insured, but you'd do well to take a close look at what they offer for 28.90 euros by consulting Poste Italiane's service charter.
