In the end it happened to me too. I sold an item with delivery to a pickup point.
I search for the pickup point name on Google, see that it's a bar, see that it's a BRT Fermopoint, while on the Poste website it doesn't show up as a pickup location; on the other hand, Packlink\eBay proposes a Poste Italiane shipping label.
I wait for opening hours, call and ask: "I saw that you provide parcel pickup/shipping service, only BRT or Poste too?" I'm told that for shipping it's ONLY BRT, for pickup BRT and Amazon.
So already here, if I hadn't done this proactive check, Packlink would have given me a Poste Italiane label by default.
Bad... Before proceeding with the purchase of the BRT label for lack of alternatives, I check the shipping address line by line and obviously the ECP code splits the address in two, since eBay provides two lines for shipping, in the first I enter the various details, while in the second the ECP code.
I print the Bartolini label and obviously... the address comes out incomplete, not only without the ECP code but also without street and house number. I wrinkle my nose a bit and suppose (let's say I hope) that it's contained in the barcode to be scanned. Just to be safe, though, I write the ECP code a second time in part of the sheet.
From the Office of Complicating Simple Matters, that's all.

·10 months agoMany pickup points don’t know the procedure, assuming it’s the same as Amazon’s. Amazon rightly asks, if possible, for reviews of pickup points. I’ve already had contracts terminated for two points because of incorrect procedures. Ebay is trying to match Amazon but can’t, it should listen to comments from sellers and buyers and reconsider the ECP service.

·10 months agoWhat kind of improper procedures have you noticed?
Pickup points take peanuts (something like 50 cents per package) and often do it simply with the belief that they can broaden their customer base and certainly not to make money from the fermopoint service.
Often they don’t even have the physical space to keep daily packages (let alone packages that may have to stay there for up to 14 days).
Best regards

·10 months agoGood evening
It's certainly not the buyer's problem to expect a service. It wasn't the buyer who proposed a delivery/hold-at-depot contract at any store. The incorrect procedure is not knowing the procedures, for example not scanning the code for ready for pickup. Anyway, don't worry, I will never use an Ebay pickup point again; after three problems, it seems to me that this is the most convenient thing for me. Regards

·10 months agoMy reply was not meant to "justify" the pickup point.
You had seemed very surprised by the wrong behavior of 3 PICKUP POINTS and I simply explained the reason to you (from my point of view)
In general terms (but there are rare exceptions) when the bar, tobacconist, newsstand, stationery shop agree to join this service they do it because the first thing they think of is increasing customer traffic.
But then they realize that the person dropping off or picking up the package doesn't even buy a coffee, doesn't buy any newspaper, doesn't buy anything, and sooner or later the shopkeeper realizes that this service is simply a pain in the neck because they have to do extra work and dedicate space to packages for 50 cents, and that's what happens: if it goes well the service runs slowly, if it goes badly it doesn't work at all.
You're right not to use pickup points anymore, because in most cases they are shopkeepers who are not motivated to carry out this EXTRA service correctly and don't know the rules because they don't care.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

OP1 year agoUpdating as promised. The package arrived at the pickup point and was collected without any problems by the buyer.
So, as I thought, at least for BRT, even if the address isn’t fully visible on the label, it’s still encoded in the barcode, thankfully!
heavenwelkin
·1 year agoSo you shipped only with the BRT label showing the incomplete address without any handwritten addition or extra label, right?
mocer-75
OP1 year agoHi heavenwelkin, let’s say I’m already familiar with this general information.
I used to be used to putting an extra label with sender and recipient, but at the post office they started giving me a hard time, saying that if I did that I would have to pay for two shipments, so lately I just stuck on the printed label with confidence.
Unfortunately the Bartolini label is very small and doesn’t allow any handwritten writing; I hope the full address is encoded in the barcode (the driver will certainly have a complete list of deliveries), let’s hope everything goes through.
I’ll update...
Super useful input from arcobaleno2022, who gives us a point of view on the situation that I personally have never had access to.

·1 year agoThe post office staff sometimes leave me puzzled....
I have always done it this way and no one has ever had anything to say.
Also because I’m not putting in an address different from the one visible on the label.....
With BRT I always do it because their labels are too minimal.
Imagine that on that day the operator’s terminal doesn’t work, breaks, there’s no signal.... who knows.
My honest advice: put the additional label on, complete with the full address and phone number.
Because if, as often happens, there’s a failed delivery due to an incorrect or incomplete address, then the buyer opens a complaint for item not received.
you lose the sale, you have to refund, and you lose the shipping cost.
And maybe you also end up with negative feedback......
If you can’t add it by hand, put on the extra label, trust me....
This is a problem with the broker not updating the character limit, a problem with the courier who reduces the characters too much and with pickup points they don’t fit.
They don’t take responsibility for it, and only the seller always ends up paying.
Prevention is better than cure.
Bye

·1 year agoTo answer everyone.
If you choose home pickup, the courier will come to collect it
If instead you choose delivery to a pickup point
If you book a BRT label, you need to find the nearest BRT drop-off point.
If you book an UPS label, you need to find the nearest UPS drop-off point.
If you book a DHL label, you need to find the nearest DHL drop-off point.
If you book a label with Poste, you go to the post office or the nearest Poste point.
So it is fair to say that when a seller has to take a package to a pickup point, not all acceptance points handle every courier.
As for arrival at the destination fermopoint, what was said in the previous posts applies.

·1 year agoHi mocer
The ebay fermopoint service is the only one that provides the eCP code (ebay collection point)
So at the fermopoint it shouldn't matter which courier it is, it should accept all parcels that have the eCP code except registered mail (but it's also better to avoid those that aren't tracked, like posta1 and piego libri, and also piego libri raccomandata).
That is, in practice it should also accept parcels shipped outside of ebay shipping, sent directly by the seller to the post office or to a direct courier or through another broker.
The important thing is that there is the fermopoint address, ecp code and the buyer's name c/o buyer's name
Regarding the issue of the truncated address, I don't think this is recorded in the systems, otherwise there wouldn't be missed deliveries for incorrect / incomplete address.
Add the missing part by hand if possible and also include a shipping label you made and printed on white paper containing the full address and put it beside/above/below the label.
Anyway, to be on the safe side, you did well to call the fermopoint and you did well to choose BRT.
Good luck.

·1 year agoHi heaven;
just to provide a little information, we eBay-affiliated fermopoints do not check whether a package has the eCP code, but we check on the fermopoint console whether there are "Scheduled Pickups" (regardless of the type of courier chosen), from that section it shows whether a buyer has chosen you as a fermopoint (with their corresponding eCP), when the order was placed and the buttons to click when it arrives in the store (so the notification email goes to the buyer) and when it is picked up (so the package pickup is confirmed). I am attaching a photo to simplify the explanation.
Regards

·1 year agoHi arcobaleno2022
Yes exactly, the eCP code is generated by eBay at the time of payment when the buyer chooses the pickup point.
Then you receive a notice that authorizes you to handle the parcel.
The seller who has to ship has the following address in hand:
Fermopoint name c/o first and last name (buyer)
Giavanni Battista street x
postcode - city.
The seller can decide whether to generate the label with eBay Packlink or with another shipping broker, then can choose whether to have the parcel picked up at home or take it to the post office or to a fermopoint.

·1 year agoThe Fermopoint option offered by ebay is an agreement between ebay itself and the FermoPoints, which can be viewed here:
https://pages.ebay.it/acquistare/puntidiritiro/termini.html
So it may be that on site the FermoPoints accept only BRT parcels, but you should point out that the parcel comes from the agreement with ebay (in fact with the eCP code) and as such they should not refuse to take it.
Kind regards.

·1 year agoI think the bar gave you incorrect information. BRT Fermopoint pickup points accept parcels from any courier (they don't only accept registered mail).
The ones that only accept Bartolini are BRT Lockers (the lockers with a code).

OP1 year agoWhere can this be checked? In any case, to avoid problems in the end I sent it with brt...
heavenwelkin
·1 year agoTo be more precise
There is the fermopoint for parcel drop-off
and
The fermopoint for parcel pickup.
If you generated the label with BRT, you need to take the parcel to a BRT fermopoint or a BRT-authorized one.
Or you can choose home pickup.
