Item received after refund
Hi,
If you receive an item after a long time and the seller, on their own initiative, refunds you because the shipment was suspected lost, what should be done?
Thanks

Because the answer to such a question you should give yourself without even asking...

OP1 year agoI could reply that if someone sees malice and provocation in every question or action from others, maybe the problem is just theirs. But let's gloss over that.
When I asked what needs to be done, I meant from the technical side, since, maybe you didn't notice, I am a new eBay user and I have no experience with these things. Basically, I'd like to understand whether there is a standard process or procedure to follow in these cases, and if not, how you recommend I proceed.
On my end, I had already notified the seller with a private message that the package had arrived, even though very late.
Thanks

·1 year agoThis case is not covered in eBay's procedures.
Contact the seller and ask them how to make the new payment.

OP1 year agoah, I see.
I would have preferred a procedure with eBay as intermediary, I try to avoid direct payments.
Thanks

·1 year agoYou’ve received the item and already checked that it was as described, so with a direct payment you’re not risking anything (the easiest is PayPal).

OP1 year agoI don't have Paypal. Anyway, the item would have been much more useful to me a few weeks ago. Oh well, I guess these kinds of problems happen with online buying and selling. Let's see what the seller says.
Thanks again

·1 year agoGood evening gianfbay
The forum is made up of users like you and me and it's okay that someone may write something without specifically answering your question.
That's part of the community.
Regarding your question, since you are new and you seem like a precise and honest person, I tell you that:
When eBay issues a refund, the fees are reversed, so part of the refund is covered by eBay.
If we want to be precise and nitpicky, you should buy the item again and pay for it, but without the seller then shipping it to you, so you also pay eBay fees.
But since, as far as eBay is concerned, the matter is closed because the item arrived very late (I suppose because of the holidays), you can simply contact the seller and let them know that the item has arrived.
Any payment you make to the seller, they will be happy.
Unfortunately it's not their fault if the item arrived late, so I would refund them in full.
If you don't have PayPal you can simply make them a bank transfer.
Arrange with them to get the IBAN.
Best regards.

OP1 year agoThe problem is that ebay did not intervene in the refund (at least I think so, I repeat I’m new and I still don’t fully understand how it works).
After calling ebay to point this out, I had also contacted the seller to ask for information about the shipment or whether he knew anything about it at least. He, without me asking him, after a while refunded me, probably thinking the package had been lost. I thanked him for his honesty and, of course, it seemed honest and proper to let him know when the item was delivered to me, even if with considerable delay.
For the record, he just replied to me a few minutes ago and asked me whether I want to keep or return the item. I told him I want to keep it. I imagine he will give me payment instructions shortly.
Thanks

·1 year agogianfbay, it doesn’t matter if ebay didn’t step in, because at the moment when a seller fully refunds an item through ebay, part of the costs is covered by ebay in relation to the percentage linked to ebay fees.
Anyway, wait for instructions from the seller on how to pay for the item again.
Best regards.
