What it is

The Customs Duty Management Service, available from 1 December 2025, is a necessary feature for sending items containing goods destined for the United States of America in compliance with foreign regulations.

The service is currently active only for shipments falling into the following categories (business and online channels):

Poste Delivery Web (Poste Delivery International Standard and Poste Delivery Globe*);
Poste Delivery Business International Standard** and Poste Delivery Business International Plus**;
Crono Internazionale***;
Export Box***;
Raccomandata Internazionale;
Assicurata Internazionale;
Postapriority Internazionale;

*Recurring customers who have signed a term contract may purchase Poste Delivery Globe shipments destined for the United States of America only by deactivating the relevant contract on the portal and proceeding on a pay-per-use basis. How it works

The service allows customs formalities to be carried out - in particular payment of duties - before shipments enter the USA, through a qualified entity with U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

For many product categories of "EU" origin, duties are subject to a flat-rate regime equal to 15% of the value of the goods. Some sectors are subject to specific rules.

The customer must pay Poste Italiane, in addition to delivery fees, the amount of customs duties (outside the scope of VAT) and a fee for the remuneration of the management service, currently equal to:

€1.00 (plus VAT) for business customers;
€1.22 (VAT included) for retail customers.

To activate the service, prior approval of the Contract Terms is essential, to be completed in one of the following ways:

by following the online acceptance procedure, for the shipping services that provide for it;
by contacting your sales representative;
by downloading and signing the contract terms, and sending them by e-mail to servizio_gestione_dazi@posteitaliane.it (only for digitally signed contracts) or via PEC to servizio_gestione_dazi@pec.posteitaliane.it (for handwritten and/or digital signature contracts). Along with the contract terms, a copy of the identification document must be sent, as well as the Tax Code if the identification document was not issued in the new electronic version.
