Send from private individual to private individual to the UK United Kingdom
Hello, I sold an item in the United Kingdom and I’m having difficulties with the documents to include with the shipment. I’ll be using UPS courier.
At this eBay link it tells me I need the buyer’s tax ID, is that really necessary? The buyer is a private individual, not a company, and I’m a private individual too.

"
- It is always mandatory to include the sender’s and recipient’s tax code or VAT number on the invoice. Without this information, the package may be held by Customs."
Where do I need to enter the IOSS code provided by eBay and the word PAID?
Thanks

·2 years agopremised that selling outside the EU (and therefore going through customs, which may carry out checks.....) is increasingly risky if the procedures are not followed...... personally, speaking hypothetically as a private seller, I would avoid selling in these areas...... otherwise you accept the risk and should inform yourself preferably at the relevant offices (Customs) , or by contacting the courier used directly (UPS in this case....) about the correct rules to follow..... possibly also on broker websites, which anyway will provide, for obvious reasons, more general guidance....

·2 years agoThere’s a template with the instructions on Packlink’s site (also on all the other couriers’ sites).

OP2 years agoHi, thanks for the reply. Yes, I saw the model and read the instructions, but it doesn't seem to me that there's a field to enter the IOSS code, and it also seems rather tedious to always have to ask a customer for their equivalent of a tax code, considering that some people don't even trust you enough to leave a phone number...
