Shipping by registered printed matter to pickup point (eCP code)

Good morning everyone,
I’m reaching out to you for some advice: I’ve just completed my first sale on Ebay. It’s a book, and for the shipping method I had selected piego di libri. The buyer chose a pharmacy as the pickup point, and there’s an eCP code.
I’m asking you: is it possible to send it by registered piego di libri? If not, what kind of shipping would you recommend?
In the case of piego di libri, is it possible to write the various delivery details (including the eCP code) directly by hand on the package, without printing them?
Sorry for all the questions, but I really don’t understand much…

·1 year agoThen I saw that, at least for the moment, the cheapest book for sale is at €20.00, so that’s another good reason not to use ordinary piego.
It should also be common sense for the buyer, if both an untracked shipment and a tracked one are offered, to choose the safer option if the item is valuable, but I’ve had it happen that they chose a shipment without tracking for items sold for more than €100.00...!! My mistake for offering the two options. But you always learn something here!!!
For low-value sales, maybe offering low-cost shipping encourages the purchase. Who pays €6/7 shipping for a €2 book? Keep in mind, though, that even for €2, if the book doesn’t arrive, the problems are all yours...!!

·1 year agoin short, advice.... for the future : avoid deliveries to the recipient at a Fermopoint ( = remove the option from the listings.... ) ; for the reasons, read the many posts that deal with the topic.....
avoid untracked shipments ( unless of course you want to take the risk anyway because the item + shipping, in case of non-delivery, would amount to a minimal, or acceptable, loss ...... )

·1 year agoPickup points cannot accept registered mail, since they would need a signed authorization from the recipient.
Instead, they should collect the delivery notice and give it to the recipient. With the notice, they can go to the post office and pick up the registered letter.

OP1 year agoBasically, it’s one of two things: either I send it with registered book post (and so the parcel is rejected and redirected to the nearest post office, and the buyer is notified) or with book post without registered mail (in this case the parcel is picked up from the collection point, but with all the risks involved since it’s not registered and anything could happen). Maybe at this point it’s worth sticking with the first option?

·1 year agoRegistered mail or registered book parcel at fermopoint (eCP code) don’t go together.
There have been previous discussions on the forum where registered mail that arrived at the fermopoint was then sent back to the sender.

you enter some kind of stack of nested boxes where one leads you to the next in succession. I don’t want to make this exchange of clarifications seem tedious, but...can’t you take the book, put it in the packaging, take it to the post office with your address and the recipient’s address written by hand, and write on it BOOK FOLDS REGISTERED MAIL and leave it to the clerk for shipping? Isn’t the recipient happy to receive it at home? Does he want to pick it up at a designated point? This has never happened to me even once. Never! Best regards

Anyway, what you suggest would certainly be the easiest solution, but I don't have the buyer's address. Or rather, the only address I received is the post office box address.

This time you’ll take the risk with an ordinary book parcel so it can reach the hold point.
You’ve already disabled the option for the future. Good. It’s too problematic.
In the future you’ll send with registered book parcels. Good here too!! Tracking is always welcome!!
As for the writing on the envelopes, you can just write it by hand. It’s not mandatory to print the addresses (sender and recipient).
At the post office they “taught me” to write on the envelope the wording "openable side for postal inspection" on the side of the attached flap. "book parcels" on the envelope side where the recipient’s address is.

Don’t worry this time. I’ve been shipping for years mostly with ordinary parcels, without tracking, not registered (almost all buyers "want to save money") even though I naturally also offer the registered parcel option. The shipments have always arrived (except maybe a couple of times... but who knows if they really hadn’t arrived...). You won’t have any problems!!
But don’t be tempted... use tracked shipping methods. It’s always better. Besides, especially the ordinary book parcel sometimes, often, takes an endless amount of time to be delivered!!

In the meantime, as you suggested, I immediately disabled shipment to pickup points, so as to avoid problems with future sales. As for this order, I’d say I have no alternatives (or am I still in time to agree on another address with the buyer?) so I’ll go with the registered book shipment to the pickup point chosen by the buyer, hoping for the best.
Silly question, but I’m really thrown off by all the shipping options and I’d like to avoid unpleasant surprises: for registered book shipment, can I handwrite the details on the package, without printing labels, correct?

No, you must ship only to the address he specified on eBay.
At most, by agreeing with him, you can cancel the sale and relist the item in auction (which he will then buy again, but redirecting it to another address...).

·1 year agoWith "book rate" you should only send books and/or publishing products.
Some post offices, though, accept anything... oh well... at your own risk...
But there’s another "but": pickup points... many do NOT accept registered mail, so it would be refused and redirected to the competent post office (and so the user has to go there).
As good old Von suggests, I’d avoid pickup points like the plague even for all the other shipments and disable them in your shipping options to prevent users from choosing them: too many issues with lost items and missing notification (with consequent compensation to the buyer).

·1 year agoPickup points, drop-off points, scheduled shipments, and all that jazz are all the rage lately. My advice is to forget it. Send it through a nice cardboard package with a side opening for inspection via registered book post for €4.70. At your nearest post office.
Any service where things are entrusted to third parties and hardly depend on you at all is very risky. And often so full of unexpected surprises that you’re left stunned. You have to minimize risks as much as possible, not turn them into a constant. The world is already a cauldron of indescribable complications.
