Hello everyone,
On December 22 I bought an item from an English seller who shipped with Pitney Bowes, the tracking has been stuck since December 30 and hasn’t moved for days.
The last status I can see is: "B2C customs clearance status 4, Netherlands".
Going around the awful Pitney Bowes site I try to open a case, but it won’t let me continue because it needs a code that I don’t have.
The only thing I was able to do was open a case on eBay, because while browsing the site I found that option.
At this point, should I consider the package lost?
I spent €60 including shipping and everything.
Has anyone here run into similar problems recently and how should I proceed?
Thanks to anyone who replies

·11 months agosorry but ebay is terrible when it comes to tracking and shipping and reply to someone I don’t remember who was defending ebay in a ridiculous way. we shouldn’t say poor thing handles more stuff than temu and aliexpress because then there’s also amazon where private sellers sell and the quality definitely isn’t this shitty tracking here. and on ebay you absolutely don’t find what you find on temu or aliexpress and if you do it doesn’t cost like on their site. anyway I bought a very expensive collectible item and it’s been stuck in customs in the Netherlands for 5 days now, can you believe it? definitely the last time

·11 months agoHi m7rfz-23
The sentence I underlined in blue could also be interpreted in a positive light, in the sense that on eBay you find items you can't find anywhere else.
Best regards

·1 year agoDidn't you receive an email to pay the customs clearance?

·1 year agoIt is not said that an email from customs will arrive.....
Sometimes they may call by phone
Other times they may send a letter (to be filled out) to the recipient's address, which must be sent back
Other times, instead, a request for advance payment arrives, to be paid by credit card by the courier.
Other times, instead, the courier rings the intercom and asks to be paid in cash.
If the buyer used the eBay international shipping service (pitney bowes) they will not receive any email, postcard or phone call nor any advance payment request....
Simply, the courier will ring and deliver the package without asking for any amount.
In the worst case, the buyer will have to make a second payment to the courier.
In these cases it would be best to have some kind of receipt issued so that it can be sent to eBay, getting the double customs payment reversed.

·1 year agoYeah, but in fact after this experience I definitely won’t buy on eBay from international sellers anymore. I don’t know Temu, but AliExpress offers a far better service than these companies that eBay entrusts with shipping like Pitney Bowes. Anyway, if the package hasn’t arrived by the 30th and the tracking is still stuck at "Shipped from global shipping center to destination", I think I’ll already open a case for item not received.

·1 year agoHi samuel96it
If you mean the English seller who sells dinosaurs, he tells me that if I ordered from them today I should receive my item between April 30 and May 6.
Ebay estimates delivery within 15 days of payment.....
These estimates, in my opinion, may not be realistic because the steps to be taken would be the following:
- the seller must ship the item to pitney bowes uk, which roughly amounts to a week / 10 days (if Saturday and Sunday fall in the middle)
- pitney bowes has to arrange the shipment and send it to you, so allow a week to organize the shipment and a week to arrive at the Italian customs (so 15 days).
- then allow for customs clearance and shipping to your home (allow 5~7 days).
From the date of the last delivery estimate provided by ebay, you have 30 days to open a claim for item not received.
I advise you to keep an eye on the tracking and be patient, but without letting the 30 days offered by ebay after the estimated delivery time pass, after which you can possibly open a claim for item not received (maybe around the 20 ~ 25" day after the estimated delivery time.

·1 year agoThanks for the reply, the seller shipped the package immediately, and it moved fairly quickly with Pitney Bowes, which shipped the package on April 22. But since then there have been no tracking updates. Given that eBay's estimated arrival date is April 29, can I still expect the package to arrive within the agreed timeframe, or will it arrive late? From the 22nd to the 29th there are 7 days, so it should fall within the timeframe you explained, am I right?
heavenwelkin
·1 year agoIf Pitney Bowes shipped the package on April 22 (Tuesday), it seems pretty unlikely that you’ll receive it by the 29th considering that the 26th and 27th are Saturday and Sunday....
If the package left Pitney Bowes on the 22nd, figure (at worst) another 22 days.....
Check the latest delivery estimate that eBay gives you and then add about another 20 days; if the package doesn’t arrive by that date, open a dispute for item not received.

·1 year agoEven 20 days? I’ve read about other users who, from the wording "Shipped from global shipping center to Destination", waited at most 7-10 days for delivery, including non-working days (Saturday and Sunday). Anyway, if what you say is true and it really takes that long, I have to say that AliExpress, with shipments from China, offers a much better service, with daily tracking updates and customs that also work on Saturdays and clear packages within a few hours, then deliver them in the next two working days. That with eBay you have to wait so long for a package from the United Kingdom, which compared to China is much closer, is ridiculous; if what you say turns out to be true, this is without a doubt the last time I buy overseas with eBay, for sure.

·1 year agoI didn't say it takes 20 days (necessarily); I said that in the worst-case scenario it takes 22 days.
I wrote this because it seemed to me that there was some concern about it.
Personally, it makes no difference to me whether delivery takes 10 or 20 days, but each person is a case unto themselves.
From the UK to Italy the parcel has to go through customs, so it takes as long as it takes.
All you can do is wait patiently while keeping an eye on the tracking, after which you'll be able to make all the necessary assessments and decide accordingly.

·1 year agoSure, obviously I’m not really taking it out on you but on eBay more than anything else. My problem isn’t waiting, it’s the fact that the dates aren’t respected. If I have to get a birthday present for my son and you give me a date that is well within the timeframe I expected, and then you deliver it a month after the date you gave me, you can understand that you’re offering me a terrible service, especially for the cost you’re charging me, not to mention that they don’t even update the tracking consistently so I can tell whether the package is "alive" in the sense that it exists and is moving, or whether it’s been lost and in that case I have to choose another gift.

·1 year agoGood morning lunacomics17
Leave the Pitney Bowes site alone and use ebay exclusively.
Check the maximum estimated delivery date on ebay and based on that then open the report for item not received.
If the seller relied on the Pitney Bowes service, it means they did not ship the item directly to you but used an intermediary service.
Basically, the seller shipped to Pitney Bowes in England and then they filled out all the customs paperwork to ship it to you.
That means the times are a little longer.
For this reason the direct shipment with Royal Mail arrived first because in that case the seller shipped directly to you.
My advice is to stay calm and wait patiently.
Kind regards.

·1 year agoGenerally, a week after the transit in the Netherlands, the package arrives in Milan, from there it is handled by Poste Italiane and arrives at its destination in 2-3 days.
Customs during the Christmas holidays is particularly slow, especially when it is handled by the postal service.

OP1 year agoThanks Mario.
Should I close the case with the seller?
The thing is, if it really is lost then I can’t get a refund and I’d hate to lose €60...
This is the first time I’ve had this company and I rarely buy abroad... on the same day I bought another item shipped with Royal Mail, also from England, and it arrived yesterday.
I read that having cleared customs is a good sign.
I should have paid the duties at purchase, could I risk having to pay more?
marioelegio
·1 year agoDo not close the case until the package arrives. It can remain open for 21 days.
If nothing arrives, on the 20th day ask eBay to step in .... https://www.ebay.it/help/buying/returns-items-not-received-refunds-buyers/chiedi-ebay-di-intervenire-acquirenti?id=4701&st=3&pos=1&query=Chiedi%20a%20eBay%20di%20intervenire%20-%20acquirenti&intent=chiedi%20ad%20ebay&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1382
For me it was the opposite, I bought two items at the beginning of December and only the one shipped with Pitney Bowes arrived before Christmas, while the one with Royal Mail was delivered to me in the new year.
As for customs fees, there shouldn’t be any additional ones, since they are requested and paid in advance.
