Shipping to Turkey, anyone have experience?
Hello everyone and thanks in advance. Someone is asking me to ship a stuffed toy to Turkey and I’m trying to figure out whether it’s doable. Has anyone had experience with this already? Are there extra forms to fill out, is it problematic? So far I haven’t shipped outside Europe because of the hassle with customs and the like

·3 years agoAs in all countries, there are serious buyers, less serious ones, or serious in a different way.
First of all, see whether from their feedback you can tell how they behaved during previous purchases.
After that you should assess the shipping cost and the service, the padded envelope, the shipping fees, at the post office they will definitely ask you to attach some purchase invoice even if you are in the European Union and maybe you'll have to go back a second time......
It's likely that if you offer them a registered mail option (which is already an expensive service in itself) plus 3 or 5 euros markup, the buyer will simply give up on the purchase.
If they do accept, I would personally go ahead and close the sale.

·3 years agoTurkey is part of the European community; it joined in 1999. If you ship to Europe, you will no doubt have ticked the countries where you intend to send your items. If Turkey isn't included, I wouldn't be too tempted by the supposed bargain. In my view, the interested party has scrutinized your free shipping (to Italy) and will propose a no-cost shipment to his home country. Turkey today has huge problems to solve. Seek practical help from everyone. Maybe it's for a small gift for a child with very little. I would ship it for free, even at half price this time.

OP3 years agoActually, he asked me how much the shipping costs were, so I suppose it’s for him.. Can I check the rates through eBay, if necessary? Since I haven’t bought an auction yet, is there a link through which I can simulate shipping? Thanks so much!

OP3 years agoAnd then I found this online anyway: "The documents needed to ship a package to Turkey from Italy are the pro forma invoice, a list of the goods being shipped with the quantity and value next to each item, and the declaration of free export." also because as far as I know it’s in the European community but not in the European Union.. That’s what I found while searching online

·3 years agoYes exactly, you’ve already gotten ahead as I see it, there are still some things to know and various forms to fill out.
Think about whether it’s worth the hassle, basically.

OP3 years agoI don't know what the free export declaration is, I'm a private individual.. Can someone give me more info and a link to see the costs through eBay so I can do a simulation first?

OP3 years agoI don’t have a purchase invoice also because these are collectible gadgets I had sent from Japan about fifteen years ago, so..
