Shipment returned to sender
Good morning,
delivery was scheduled for October 12, but the parcel is on its way back to Poland.
These are the questions:
1) The request for a new shipment can be made within 30 days of the scheduled delivery date (12/10). But the parcel is still in Italy, I think it would be best to wait until it is returned to the sender, especially since I opened a written complaint with Poste for non-delivery. Right?
2) It is a shipment with multiple items, I can't find the option to request re-forwarding of the whole order.
Do I need to make a request for each item?
3) Is this type of operation negative for the seller?
He is in no way at fault, so I would not want to create unnecessary inconvenience for him; moreover, he is a top seller and I would like to keep good relations with him.
4) Can I receive negative feedback from the seller?
5) Since the parcel was not delivered, can I ask for it to be resent to another recipient and address so that the possible second shipment has a better chance of being successful?
6) I am very interested in the items because I collect them; for me, obtaining them is the priority, and a refund is the last resort. Is the seller obliged to resend the items, or are there reasons why he may refuse to do so?
Thank you in advance.

OP2 years agoTo those who helped me and to the community:
The package returned to Poland after 32 days, the seller was super helpful and didn’t give me any trouble about sending it again.
If I may give you my opinion, Poste’s phone support leaves a lot of doubts, the written complaint is more effective.
This is if you are the sender; for the recipient it’s better to let it go because you risk complicating everything and increasing the delays.
Opinion based on my personal experience and limited to this case, just so we’re clear.

·2 years agoGood morning pupikiza
You've been an eBay user since 2003 with at least 71 purchases under your belt, and you don't know that the times eBay provides are approximate delivery estimates because eBay doesn't ship anything and what counts is the actual tracking of the package and what is shown in the tracking?
Regarding negative feedback left by sellers for buyers, for about 15 years it has no longer been possible to leave it.
Have you checked / monitored the package tracking using the shipping code provided by the seller?
What does the tracking say? Has the package by any chance arrived in Italy and then the courier tried to make delivery attempts?
If you don't provide the tracking outcome, you may receive misleading answers.
Kind regards.

OP2 years agoIt's the first time something has been returned to sender since I started using Ebay, and besides, I haven't made any purchases in a while.
Of course, I had been keeping an eye on it from the very first day.
The package is being returned to sender for "Failed delivery because the recipient is listed as unknown at the address" (opened a complaint with Poste) and shows as "Returned to sender". This was on the 12-10-2023
I keep an eye on it on the Poste website and on pkge.net
Thanks

·2 years agoThe situation isn’t simple because the tracking shows an unknown address.
Now, if the seller made a mistake when entering the address provided by ebay, then by opening a dispute you can get a refund of what you paid.
But if you open a dispute and the seller entered the shipping address correctly, exactly as written on ebay, the dispute will be closed in the seller’s favor, and they probably won’t be very willing to reach an extra-ebay agreement and could easily ignore you.
So the final choice of what to do is up to you.
You can contact the seller via ebay messaging to find out what happened in the meantime and maybe have them send you a copy of the shipping label so you can check for any address issues.
If you realize the mistake is the seller’s, you can open a dispute for item not received.
Italian postal services for international shipments are certainly not among the best services on the market....... it could very well have happened that the "unprepared" postman, seeing a new label with wording maybe in Polish, decided to mark the shipment as "not deliverable due to unknown address."
Anyway, in my opinion the best thing to do would have been to monitor the tracking daily and then go straight to the post office to report it, and maybe you would have managed to stop the parcel from being sent back to Poland.
Best regards.

OP2 years agoThanks heavenwelkin,
but I still haven't understood one thing.
The seller is 90% likely to have made no mistakes,
I didn't want to open a dispute and from the answers I received from you it is confirmed to me that it wouldn't make sense.
Would you be so kind as to tell me whether, given these circumstances, the seller is required to send a second one
or can decide not to do so.
That's my big doubt because I care a lot about the items in the package.
As for the tracking, you're right, but I saw the failed delivery around 6 p.m., at 7:30 p.m. the package was already shown as sent to the sorting center, so I couldn't rush to the post office the next morning.
I called Poste's phone support at exactly 8:00 a.m., but imagine.....

·2 years agoAccording to eBay's rules
If you open a dispute and lose it, the seller on eBay is free from any obligation or commitment toward you because he did everything according to the procedures and cannot be held responsible if the Italian post office was negligent.
Obviously if you don't open any dispute you still can't do anything.
So there would be the reshipment issue, which in any case is a procedure not предусмотрed by eBay because at the moment on eBay you can only open a case for an item not received.
As marioelegio said, according to Italian law and I suppose also Polish law you are entitled to a refund for the items excluding shipping costs, but easier said than done..... since this is an overseas purchase I see it as rather complicated.
Get in touch with the seller and explain the situation, then ask him to resend the item with a courier like UPS, DHL, Tnt, FeDex.
Basically, if he agrees, you would have to advance him this money, maybe via PayPal so that in the possible event you can open a PayPal dispute to get the shipping costs refunded if he doesn't want to honor the agreement made.
I hope the seller is understanding and accepts your request because he could very well ignore you.
Regarding the post office, generally mail and parcel pickups take place from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., so if the tracking is updated daily, in theory there's still time if the mail carrier in the morning reports the failed delivery because usually when he returns to the office the time is certainly after 12:00 and again in theory you can still manage to go to the post office and ask about the shipment addressed in your name.
Then if the tracking isn't updated daily, there isn't much more you can do.
In my opinion, with the Italian post office, regarding the problem they created, you can do very little.
In any case, let us know how it turns out.
Kind regards.

·2 years agoAccording to eBay procedures, you should open a case for each order.
Anyway, the case only has an effect in the event of seller error (and almost always leads to a refund). If the address on the package was the one provided by eBay (the one registered to your account), the case is closed.
The items you bought remain your property anyway, and you can arrange with the seller for a new shipment even to a new address.

OP2 years agoMario,
your answer is useful to me.
The address is that of the account, so opening the procedure isn’t necessary, which means that opening the procedure isn’t necessary and the way forward is a direct agreement, if I understood correctly.
