United States shipment customs
Hello everyone, I sold an item in the United States but when filling out the shipping form the buyer did not want to provide their tax code (American) so I left the field blank. What happens in this case? Is it possible that the package could be held up in customs for this reason? (Leaving aside the category and weight changed by Cronopost from the games category to musical instruments and from 500 to 200 grams) the amount is quite high, what do you recommend I do thanks everyone

·Jul 14, 2026 at 2:29 PMGood evening,
I just sold a perfume on eBay for the USA, and it’s practically impossible to download the label, either printable or digital. Support isn’t able to help me in any way. What could this be due to, or do you have any advice for me? Thanks

·1 year agoI see two recent sales of 500 euro notes.
So the buyer will have to pay the corresponding import taxes upon delivery of the package.

OP1 year agoSo if it inserted this as the code, but I don’t have to include any other sheets with the code written on them, I think the eBay ones and the photos of the documents are enough. 3 copies of these, which are for customs, and the 2 sheets that come out together with the label, if that’s the case then I’ve understood everything and it isn’t so difficult after all, I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart. If I’ve made a mistake, correct me, thanks again

OP1 year agothese are the forms I already filled out during the shipment, are you talking about these? We need 3 of them, right?

·1 year agoThen another thing I recommend you do is print out the eBay invoice where it shows that the buyer has already paid the VAT directly to eBay.
Because otherwise it will happen that they will get charged twice.
Emphasize the fact that the buyer has already paid what was due to eBay; otherwise write it on a separate sheet.

OP1 year agoI put a low value, if I put the invoice they’ll see it’s worth more and I complicate the situation. If they pay those 30 euros, fine. The item is worth much more.

OP1 year agoCan I write it on the sheet where I entered my data and the buyer's email written in English VAT already paid through ebay
heavenwelkin
·1 year agoIf you say the buyer paid MUCH MORE than 50 euros then if it exceeds 150 euros eBay no longer handles collecting the VAT.
You need to look at the order summary, from there you can see whether the buyer paid the VAT to eBay or whether they didn't pay it.

·1 year agoOn the pro forma invoice you have to state that it is a commercial shipment, so you need to attach proof of purchase / sale confirming that you declared the correct amount.
Usually you attach the @fattura@ eBay "eBay order number"
If the cards cost more than 150 euros / dollars then the buyer has not paid VAT to eBay.
You need to enter the sale amount and attach the eBay sales summary "order number", so the eBay order number must be entered in the pro forma invoice space where it says "invoice number"

·1 year agoCountry of origin is definitely not Italy but CHINA (CN), but if you don’t know where the cards come from (where they were made) just leave IT

OP1 year agoDo I need to put this hs in the shipping label, right?? Cronopost issued me one with 10 digits, this one has 8, I think I'll also change the hs
maurocap2
OP1 year agoNo, on the back it says made in Italy, I thought China too but I read it properly

·1 year agoHello maurocapobianco22
Fill out the pro forma invoice with the details provided by eBay, this is sufficient.
It is not necessary to have the buyer's tax code or ID document number in the attached documentation.
3 copies of the pro forma invoice are needed (3 copies because during the various steps they keep a copy, Italian customs and American customs at least)
Then attach one of your documents and tax code (photocopies)
provide your phone number and email and also the buyer's (use the email provided by eBay, the long encrypted one you find in the buyer information)
goods declaration, goods value and HS code Harmonized System corresponding to the type of item you are selling.
Kind regards

OP1 year agoI think I didn't download the pro forma invoice, I only downloaded the sheets that packlink gave me. I hope to recover the invoice.. the document is ok, so a sheet with the printed electronic ID card and tax code.
Is the goods declaration the 2 packlink sheets, both in Italian and in English?
Also, regarding cronopost having changed the weight and contents, do you say to leave it like that? Thanks for everything, it's my first sale in America and it seems quite complicated, and with all these things it's a bit difficult to make everything clear

OP1 year agoOk, I printed the 6 sheets of the customs invoice.
I need to fill out the export form (the one that comes out together with the label).
Insert a copy of the documents front and back, plus my phone number and email and the buyer's.
The only thing eBay didn't give me or that I can't find is the HS code? Do I have to enter it obligatorily? Because I can't figure out where to find it. They are collectible cards that I sell, the label says musical instruments, well, I hope that won't be a reason for it to get blocked. Thanks for everything, very kind and helpful.

OP1 year agoI shipped it via eBay

·1 year agoThe HS code was kindly provided to you by marioelegio, then the discrepancy on the bill of lading usually doesn't cause blocks, but if you can correct it and make it match the customs declaration, it's better.
The bill of lading is generated automatically and usually wording is entered that is easily understandable and clear for customs officers.
Sometimes it happens that by entering strange wording with content that is not very clear and difficult to understand about the actual contents of the package, there is a risk that, IN CASE OF DOUBT, the customs officer will mark everything as PROBABLE GOODS NOT EXPORTED.
But in your case, being collectible cards, I would say you shouldn't have any kind of problem.
To edit the label you need a program that edits PDFs; from there you can change the content.
Alternatively you need to use a photo editing program.
You can also just leave everything as it is ....
maurocap2
OP1 year agoOk ok, for the label, sure, I'll try editing and writing collectible cards, as for the rest, are the 3 copies those photos I forwarded above? That's the only doubt I have left and then I’ve done everything.
1 Photocopy of documents
2 export declaration (in both Italian and English)
3 the 3 copies of the 2 sheets that I forwarded in the previous message.
4 sheet with my and the buyer's phone number and email.
These are all the steps I’ve taken. Thanks for another reply and I hope to help others like me who will run into these difficulties.
