Deliberately unusual shipping?
Good morning everyone,
I made this purchase more than a week ago. Before proceeding, I check the shipping times: 3-5 days to ship, seller in a nearby region, delivery between Friday and Tuesday (yesterday). I proceed and the weirdness begins...
1) Friday arrives and the package still hasn’t been shipped, strange, first time this has happened to me. I contact the seller, after all it’s a gift for my son’s 18th birthday. He replies, don’t worry, shipments leave within 3/5 days of purchase.
2) I contact again on Monday, the item still hasn’t been shipped and it’s the fifth working day. The reply: don’t worry, we’re still within the time frame, it will be shipped today...
3) Tuesday, that is yesterday, around 6 p.m., package shipped, no tracking code, courier GLS, strange, usually if you book a pickup you have the code even before the pickup. I contact again asking for the code and I’m told it will be available in the evening, the time needed to upload the said code into the system.
4) today, 1 day late, still no tracking code present.
Now I have two huge doubts: either it smells like a scam or the seller is deliberately and systematically (given that in the neutral comments many have found themselves in the same situation) pushing deliveries beyond the deadline in such a skillful way that it seems random... why? Does he not have the item? Probably a scam?
I’ve been buying on eBay for years and this has never happened. Needless to say, tonight I’ll send another message and start reporting it to eBay and on PayPal if I don’t get any feedback, and I’m much more curious about why of a behavior like this that seems systematic as well as insulting to the buyer

OP2 years agoFrom a closer analysis of the seller, and my fault for not checking more carefully and trusting eBay's feedback system, it basically turns out that: the Apple phone purchased definitely comes from abroad, I hope it's at least European warranty. The seller knows perfectly how the platform works and exploits it properly with delivery times and specific couriers that delay tracking so as not to get caught. In addition, in the past he passed off as Italian warranty products that could not have been so; now he cleverly states "24-month warranty", Italian regulations... he doesn't say it but deliberately lets you believe it, deceiving the buyer, not to mention all the messages that are blatantly taking the piss. I didn't understand why all the feedback proving this are categorized as neutral when, in fact, the seller's behavior is anything but ethical and also repeated... What can I say... I'm waiting for the phone to confirm, but in fact despite recognizing my responsibility in doing targeted research, I deduce that eBay's feedback system was not at all useful... rather ... It rewards those who do not work ethically

It's a choice made by whoever releases them, neither the seller nor eBay.

·2 years agoin short: I don’t see why a professional seller should “risk” scams of this kind, since it would harm their reputation ( .... beyond the risk of losing money and/or the item...... ) : anyway, since it’s not possible to “see” the seller in question, it’s not possible to give a more precise judgment......

OP2 years agoIs the point maybe to hide a sale made without having the item in stock? Fair enough, but passing it off as a regular sale, with a joke right up until the last minute, to me that says anything but an impeccable seller like his feedback makes him seem. The last message: I’ve shipped it! Status marked as shipped with no tracking, tracking arrived today way late with today’s shipping date. Let’s not even talk about the embarrassment I made of myself, since it was a gift chosen from this seller based on the delivery date...and the joke was what really got on my nerves

If the estimated delivery date has expired, open a report... you’ll see that the seller will come forward with the tracking:

OP2 years agoObviously I’ll do it; after all, even if there’s no bad faith, it’s still impossible for it to arrive by tonight, when my son’s birthday is being celebrated. I’ll sort it out by buying it from a physical store, but as I was saying I’m more curious about the way they operate. We’re talking about a professional seller with more than positive feedback and problems only in the neutral reviews; shouldn’t they be negative?
