Shipping costs paid (by me), but not incurred by the seller
Good morning,
I bought a lens from Portugal. The seller had indicated shipping costs of € 35.00, which I duly paid. When the package arrived, however, packaged with terrible, recycled material, I noticed that the seller had only spent € 12.50. I wrote to him to request a refund of the € 22.50 I had paid extra. He is denying me the refund because he claims he had to pay for a taxi to get to the post office because he is unable to get around and/or other problems.
So I would like to know whether it is possible to file a complaint/dispute through Ebay in order to obtain a refund of the money I paid extra for shipping.

·3 years agoas already pointed out by the other users, if the seller shipped with the method indicated in the listing, obviously no, since the total paid before the purchase (that is, item value + shipping costs) was fine with you
NOTE: the seller was a bit of an idiot, he could have increased the item value and set lower shipping costs......

Your request cannot be accepted or reported because the shipping price was visible before purchase and you agreed to buy at that price.
In these cases, before buying, you can contact the seller and ask whether a cheaper shipping option is available, and if not, you accept the shipping price or alternatively refrain from proceeding with the purchase.

OP3 years agoIt's simple, I always ship with the private courier GLS and they usually charge me € 20 for shipping.

·3 years agoFor the same reason I don't see why not accept the taxi trip version provided by the foreign seller.
But let's stop here, to ship for 20 euros you must have your reasons and if a buyer purchases from you at that price it means they're fine with it, so then they shouldn't complain if you got the shipping through eBay Shipping or another shipping broker and paid 8 euros for it.
The extra shipping and packaging costs some people don't calculate, and some charge for them at gold-plated prices.
In any case, it still means dedicating extra time after the sale is completed.
Arranging the pickup, printing the waybill (not everyone has a printer at home) so you have to save the file, go to a copy shop, wait or make the courier wait from 9:00 to 18:00 or else go to the post office, get a box and the proper packaging material to pack it.......

·3 years agoWhat shipping cost did the listing indicate? 35 euros? If so, by buying it you accepted the shipping costs indicated by the seller. It’s true that you couldn’t know the exact shipping costs in advance, but you could have asked for clarification before buying.
Now the only thing you can do is contact support, explain what happened, and have them read the messages exchanged with the seller, pointing out that they entered excessive shipping costs without stating their reasons before selling.
