Various eBay purchases sent to a different country than mine, but with the same ZIP code
Recently I had to go to BRT because the address was wrong for a package I was supposed to receive; everything was correct through the Town/Hamlet, and over the phone I gave the correct codes, the rerouting was done, and 2 days later I received the package.
In the last month this happened with another package and two others that are driving me crazy, because through eBay's shipment tracking I noticed that it had been marked as being held at the branch. as: UNKNOWN/INCOMPLETE RECIPIENT. Checking the shipment on the BRT site, the package had been sent to Camporovere, address filled in as Camporovere, while I am in Zané; we both have the same ZIP code (I checked through the Poste website). The wrong town is the first in alphabetical order, while mine is the last.
Is it possible that eBay's shipping system, by mistake, communicates the town to BRT incorrectly, choosing the one that appears first in the list? I have never had any problems with the other packages shipped normally by BRT.
What should I do, every time I buy something do I have to tell the seller to check, or manually send the package, to avoid this.
P.S.
The package has just arrived (data transmitted to BRT on January 4, delivered on January 15)

·2 years agoSame exact problem. In 2024 it seems easier to go to Mars than to get a package shipped to the correct address, which is then correctly listed in personal information! I’ve probably already made 5 or 6 purchases in the last year, all ending up in the wrong town, which is then first in alphabetical order in my ZIP code, which includes multiple towns, and always with Bartolini. Telling sellers to check the address can be a stopgap, but shame on eBay for not fixing the problem, and the only thing customer service could tell me was that if I don’t receive the package, to rest assured I’ll be refunded... and every time, the hassle with Bartolini to get the purchases delivered.

·2 years agoIn 2024, automation has taken over and today buying and selling are handled with taps on the screen.
No contact with the seller / buyer is necessary.
But is everything really this practical, simple, intuitive and immediate?
In 2024, to minimize any post-sale problems, in addition to checking the addresses on eBay, I also verify them on Google.
Not satisfied, when I use BRT shipping labels, which are missing the sender/recipient details, I print one myself as well with the full address of both sender and recipient.
And not satisfied, I protect the printed sheet with transparent tape applied over it.
It can happen that:
The operator's handheld device doesn't work properly and a name with a phone number can help
there's no signal or the server doesn't work
the shipping label code gets damaged during the various stages of transport (torn, punctured, worn) and becomes unreadable, maybe because of a few raindrops (homemade inks sometimes don't withstand water)
There can be problems with Packlink that enters the postal codes wrong or cuts off some address details, or a transcription error by the buyer...
In short, even though we're in 2024, in my opinion we're not even remotely in a position to blindly rely on all these aids / conveniences and various algorithms.
I always send a message to the buyer to let them know the package is on its way, I leave the tracking code and also the courier's name because it's not always obvious that the buyer knows how to navigate the eBay app.
In conclusion, in my opinion, it was better when it was worse 😇
Best regards.

·2 years agoGood morning odryemilio
Very often sellers who use ebay shipping trust what is automatically shown on the label without double-checking it against the address on ebay.
That is why sometimes the shipment goes smoothly and other times it doesn't.
Yes, in my opinion it's best to let the seller know to verify that the XXXXX postal code then matches the correct destination city, so as to avoid the problems you described.
Best regards.
