I bought a collectible card worth 5 euros with free shipping from Japan, and after a week of waiting I got a FedEx SMS an hour ago with the tracking code. I immediately got worried because I know that with couriers like that you really end up paying a lot for customs clearance, taxes, etc. Why did the seller ship it by courier if the shipping method listed was the cheap one? This is the first time I've had a package sent to me by a courier that isn't Japan Post (I always buy action figures, even expensive ones, but they always arrived with Poste Italiane) and now I don't know what to do, the package will also arrive in 5 days but I couldn't care less if I then have to pay triple for a card that is worth 5 euros. Has anyone had similar experiences and knows how much the fees would be? Also, I read that FedEx often charges you the VAT plus other very high fees for the ''inconvenience'' and that therefore eBay would not refund it in advance (it only refunds the VAT, which in this case is 1 euro, but not the additional fees). I'm thinking of not picking up the package, but I really hate that because it's a collectible card and he was the only seller offering it for so little. it's not an expensive card, you can find it for 13 euros too, but paying 5 euros for it didn't bother me at all and I have no intention of paying triple for a card that weighs 3 grams just because of the courier.
