Seller ships with SDA but doesn't enter the tracking right away
Hello, I made a purchase on Friday, December 5 after some haggling. The seller, very helpful, replied to my messages until, after I paid with PayPal, he told me that he had shipped with SDA and would send me the tracking number the following Monday, that is, tomorrow, December 8. I asked why this was and I still haven't received a reply. Now, since it was a significant expense, I have a few doubts. I asked for the shipment to be sent to a pickup point I know well to avoid untraceable shipping or at least to have the security that once it arrives there will be witnesses when opening the package (I don't know if that counts for anything though). I don't want to think the worst, but many times you end up being right, unfortunately. That said, has this ever happened to anyone, stalling on the tracking?

·2 years agoGood morning
December 5 or January 5?
If we're talking about January 5, it falls on a Friday, so it's completely NORMAL that they still haven't left you the shipping label, because evidently they still have to pack it and book the courier for home pickup.
If instead we're talking about December 5, I'd say you should open a not received item dispute RIGHT AWAY 😎
You can open the not received item dispute starting from here:

Kind regards.

OP2 years agoOn January 5, if he had written to me that he was shipping on Monday, I wouldn’t have worried. But in chat he told me that he shipped on Friday but that he would send the tracking number on Monday. He still hasn’t answered my question about why. I mean, if he shipped it, he should already have the tracking in hand, so what’s the point of making me wait until Monday?

·2 years agoIf you bought it on Friday, January 5 after 11:00, it seems unlikely that the seller could have packed the item, generated the shipping label, and arranged for the parcel to be picked up at home on January 5.
Or alternatively it could be a professional seller who doesn't reply on eBay on Saturdays and Sundays.
No point getting angry or worrying and stressing out at this moment.
If you really can't help it, wait until Monday after 18:00 and ask the seller for the tracking number.
If the seller doesn't reply, you can't do anything until the estimated delivery date provided by eBay.
So you can choose to stay anxious until tomorrow evening or even until next week, or relax and wait.
Kind regards.

OP2 years agotiming-wise. It's just that I'm very precise, maybe I mis
interpreted that "shipped" written in chat. He probably meant that he has
packed it and will ship it, but in an earlier message he had already said that if
I sent the payment right away he would ship it the same day. Waiting a couple
of days isn't the end of the world, I would have just preferred
clearer communication.

·2 years agoI'm trying to give you answers based on the information you gave me.
If you write SDA, as far as I know I can tell you that SDA doesn't let you schedule pickups after 12:00
At 12:00 the seller must already have filled out the waybill with the package's weight and measurements and paid for the shipment (but not all shipping brokers allow you to do this).
SDA was acquired by Poste Italiane even though shipments handled directly by SDA that do not have to go through the post office or Poste Italiane hubs are definitely faster.
If the seller still hasn't replied to you, the possibilities that come to mind are these:
- The seller hasn't read your messages.
- The seller ran into some issues and couldn't ship on Friday, January 5th.
- The seller shipped it but hasn't updated the tracking on eBay and hasn't read your messages.
- The seller read your messages but, not having the tracking because he hasn't shipped it, preferred to wait until he had tracking before replying to your message.

·2 years agoPeople who are precise (I am too) often tend to believe that the outside world is
just as meticulous. Especially when it comes to a promise or waiting for confirmation. But
as they used to say, when you’re in the hot seat, the rest of the world doesn’t give a damn. The sellers
and buyers often aren’t any exception. It’s obvious, as said above, that tomorrow is only the first business day after the transaction. However, there is a catch. Why was a pickup point chosen instead of the comfortable little house as the destination ? To avoid an untracked shipment, they say. Perhaps the explanation lies in the word 'negotiation' with the seller and the agreements made for this sale. Which seem to have generated, in a very short time, not only the lack of response, but also a hidden form of uncertainty. That’s how it seems to me between the lines.

OP2 years agothis option when buying online for the simple reason that I’m never
home when deliveries arrive.
I needed to negotiate because, even though it was used,
the item is expensive.
Probably I wasn’t ready for such a quick resolution and I expected
the after-sale to be similar to the negotiation.

OP2 years agoJanuary, I know, it’s very recent.

·2 years agoSo it’s fear / anxiety that at the moment is unjustified.
Wait until Tuesday and then contact the seller to request the tracking number.
If the seller doesn’t respond, you have to wait until the estimated delivery day that eBay indicates for you to open a case for an item not received.
Kind regards.
