Buyer requests a refund after 2 months
Hello, more than two months ago I shipped an item, but the tracking never updated, I think because of a mistake by the postman. The buyer hasn’t complained about anything until now, after more than two months, when they opened a claim for item not received. How should I handle this? Can they do that after having calmly released my funds and then thinking about it after all this time?

Have you checked only the eBay tracking, or also on the Poste Italiane website or the courier you used?
Because often eBay tracking doesn’t get updated.

Here we're not on "Subito" or "Vinted" where it's the buyer who confirms delivery and therefore unlocks the funds.
It's eBay itself that after 15-20 days (in your case since you're a new seller, but in much less time if you're a regular or professional seller) unlocks the money and credits it to you.
So, as wise Mario says, the buyer, if he hasn't received the item, can quite rightly ask for a refund.
And, if the tracking shows that the package has been lost, it's up to you to get in touch with the courier.
In fact, you should have done that long ago...

If the seller cannot prove delivery of the item that was paid for:
- On eBay the buyer has 30 days, from the last expected delivery date, to request a refund.
- On PayPal the buyer has 180 days, from payment, to request a refund.
- With a credit card the buyer has just over a year, from payment, to request a refund.
So, if you know that the item has been lost, it is also in your interest to issue the refund voluntarily.
