Question about refurbished eBay items
Summary: The thread concerns a question about refurbished products on eBay. Several participants interacted without providing specific details, keeping the conversation vague and not delving into the concerns or resolving the issue.
Hello,
Looking at one of the many eBay stores that sell used retro games, I see they display the "refurbished" badge.
In the same listing, at the bottom of the page, there is the eBay video that says there is a 1-year warranty and returns within 30 days.
But when I contact the seller, he replies:
Good morning, it's a somewhat complex issue, there are several types of refurbished items, in my case it is not a 1-year one, instead there is the actual refurbished item where, for example, some component is replaced, etc. etc., and therefore you get a 1-year warranty, our refurbished item only certifies that the console has been tested and cleaned in all its parts
It doesn't seem very clear to me, and above all it's misleading since there's the video in the listing itself saying something else.
Is the seller compliant?
Thanks

Go here:

Open a dispute for item not as described.
The seller will have to contact you to assess any partial refund, or they will have to provide a return label at their own expense.
Then you will have to send the item back to receive the full refund.
If the seller does not provide a shipping label, don't wait for the case deadlines to expire, and contact eBay customer service at this link.

·11 months agoLet's start from the assumption that on eBay you have 30 days of buyer protection regardless of whether it’s a private or professional seller.
But if you pay by credit card or PayPal, you may eventually have a longer time window of 180 days with PayPal and about 12 months if you paid by credit card.
If it’s a professional seller and more than 30 days have passed since the eBay purchase, it’s a good idea to contact the seller for any warranty coverage.
If the professional seller decides not to provide any warranty, you could open a dispute with PayPal or with your bank (chargeback).
Best regards

OP11 months agoUnfortunately, there are loads of these professional sellers, who put the refurbished badge on and then in practice offer no guarantee at all on the used item.
eBay should step in

·11 months agoputting the specific case aside, it’s useful to remember that eBay has a policy (which most people don’t read......): in short, eBay steps in if a case is reported that is covered by the policy itself..... it’s utopian to think that with millions of active listings eBay would act preventively .........

·11 months agoCleaned and tested does not mean refurbished.
Anyway, a professional seller must provide the legal warranty on what they sell (even if they are used items), and by law this warranty cannot be less than one year.
