Blocked Funds, but why?
Hi, I hadn’t sold on Ebay in a while, I put several items up for sale and found this new thing about payments into the bank account. Also, I’ve already sold several items (and already shipped with tracking) that show as paid, but a message says: "funds on hold" so I’ve never seen the money from the sales.
can someone please explain to me what the point of this is? and when will they give me my money?

·2 years agoAs a new seller, I sold a valuable watch. The buyer made the bank transfer to Ebay on Sunday, Dec. 17. I didn’t know about the rule of funds being held by Ebay until today. The call center representative I spoke to told me that I should have shipped the item. I replied that I would not hand over a valuable item unless the corresponding amount had been credited to my account. I called the buyer, who was very polite, and I told him that I would cancel the sale. And that’s what happened. I immediately stopped the direct debit at the bank because I really don’t trust people who carry out such unfair practices.

·2 years agoAnd if you don't trust them, why do you keep selling on ebay?
At the next sale, the problem remains... and the story repeats itself!
Kind regards.

·2 years agoYour practice with Ebay is unfair, and so I will close my account and file a complaint with CODACONS.

·2 years agoHello
No marketplace lets the user freely pocket a payment received by credit card and its derivatives without asking for guarantees.
On eBay, to earn trust you have to successfully complete a series of sales before you can be enabled for instant payments.
On Subito or Vinted, the seller ships without receiving money and, in order to release the funds, the buyer must confirm receipt of the item as described
Kind regards.

Whose “yours”?

·2 years agoHi, why invite him to close the account just because he expressed a natural and legitimate concern about his money? Let's rather say that ebay fails to inform users about how long the money to be returned to the seller will be held, since it has already taken its small amount of profit. They would just need to reassure users about the unlock times and estimate an approximate date for when the money will be released; this only happens on ebay, thanks. Regards

·2 years agoOn ebay, sellers accept terms of service where payment holds are specified (for new or infrequent users).
They can easily check the release date.

·2 years agoHello,
the concern raised is neither normal nor legitimate and eBay informs everyone... the problem is that no one reads what eBay writes in its own rules and doesn’t even spend a little of their time looking for the information they need.
Kind regards.

You're a new seller or one who doesn't sell often. The funds will be available in 15 days regardless of whether the item is marked as delivered or not. After all, your responsibility toward the buyer doesn't end with delivery

·3 years agoAnother user already replied to you: you only have 1 sale in the last period, and the funds are blocked for at least 14 days.
As you’ll read on the page they linked you:
New or infrequent sellers will see their transaction pending for the time needed to become familiar with best selling practices. This helps sellers build and create a secure sales history on eBay. New sellers are usually subject to holds for up to 14 days, although sometimes the timing can be longer.
When we place a hold on funds, we generally remove it within 30 days, although in rare cases it may take longer. For most orders, adding the shipping code can help you receive the funds faster. eBay does not earn interest on pending funds.
Also, if this is the first sale after a long time, meaning after the 2021 changes, you must have linked a checking account IBAN or a card with IBAN, otherwise you will never receive your funds.

But have you read sika700's post with the green box that's clearly visible at the top of this thread?
Read it and you'll find the answer. It's just TWO LINES.
Kind regards.

·4 years agoHello,
if you have completed the bank account verification procedure correctly, you only need to wait for the timings for new sellers (or in your case, sellers who haven't sold for a long time...), namely 21 days.
Those are the rules.
Kind regards.

OP4 years agothanks but... it seems like a stupid rule to me.

·2 years agoIf it seems stupid to you, you shouldn’t have accepted it. (which instead you inevitably did by starting to sell)

·4 years agoHello.
I don’t think 21 days because I’ve had them blocked for 54 days now and we’re still far from a resolution. In any case, yesterday, December 15, 2021, I went to the Prosecutor’s Office and, with 226 pages including their emails and mine, I filed a criminal complaint against these crooks who are blocking funds that aren’t theirs. The complaint is based on embezzlement, violation of banking laws, and online sales laws.
At this point I’ve given up on the 1500 euros they owe me because I asked for much more. Since I filed the complaint with the support of a law firm, from now on these gentlemen will have to deal with them and no longer with me.

·4 years agoIt's happening to me too. They keep making me upload the documents on a link they send me, but once they're uploaded and sent there's no kind of notification. They don't move the money to my account, I call again and it starts all over. They keep saying the documents never arrived and I never have proof that I sent them. The sale ended regularly with no complaints and I have 100% feedback on December 4th and even today my 580 are still blocked. To me it seems more like a scam than an account check. Has anyone managed to get them unblocked and how? I also asked the postal police and the carabinieri, but since it's not yet a crime they can't do anything except advise me to send a PEC. Has anyone already taken this route?

·2 years agoGood morning
The user you’re referring to hasn’t been on the forum since January 2022, so I doubt they’ll be able to read your request.
In any case, if you look at their account, you can see that it has been inactive for at least 1 year, so you might already be able to get a rough idea of how this will play out....
Kind regards.
sika700
·2 years ago... Also, if you want targeted advice, you should write with the account in question... without hiding behind accounts never used to sell... that already makes people think badly...
Kind regards.
