The seller is asking me to close the dispute
Good morning,
last month (20 December 2022) I ordered a pair of Joystick from a seller. The delivery date was 9 January 2023, so on 13 January 2023 I started the process to get an update on the status of my items and possibly request a refund. The seller replied promptly, telling me that delivery was not possible because the courier did not find me at home (I found no communication about this, even though it happened through Poste Italiane) and asked me whether I wanted a refund or for them to be resent via another courier on Monday 16 January 2023. I agreed to have them resent and to ask the courier to come in the afternoon, as I would definitely have been there to receive the delivery.
At this point the seller writes back to me saying that they will do as requested, but that I have to close the dispute otherwise E-Bay will step in automatically and issue the refund anyway on Monday 16. My questions are:
a) Is it true that I have to close the dispute otherwise the refund will start automatically?
b) Can a seller ask to close a dispute as long as the item in question has not arrived?

·3 years agoa) The refund will start only if you ask eBay to step in (as you say, starting January 13 and you can do it until January 30, 21 days from the opening of the dispute). https://www.ebay.it/help/ask-ebay-step-buyers/buying/chiedi-ebay-di-intervenire-acquirenti?id=4701&st=3&pos=1&query=Chiedi%20a%20eBay%20di%20intervenire%20-%20acquirenti&intent=ad%20ebay%20di%20intervenire&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1382
b) The seller can ask for it, but you can say no.
Better for both of you if you get a refund, then there’s always time to make a new purchase.
The seller is afraid that after making the second shipment you’ll still ask for a refund, and you have to be afraid that the second package won’t arrive in time and that the dispute will close on the 30th because you didn’t request a refund.
