It was not possible to verify some of the information provided

Good morning, I’m asking for help to resolve this situation.
Yesterday I completed my first eBay sale, the funds received from the sale were held and, according to eBay, will be released on March 20.
From what I’ve read, this may be a condition applied to all new sellers to protect buyers, but it could also be due to the fact that last month I accidentally activated a promotion (€1.49) and the transaction has always been declined by my bank because there are no funds in the current account linked to my eBay account.
That said, having completed the sale, I saw that the funds were held (and I hope it will be resolved by 03/20 or as soon as the buyer reports having received the item) and also a strange error message.
Red error bar at the top, ''Some of the information provided could not be verified''. Specifically, it seems to not ''recognize'' my card (Intesa San Paolo). The same one used for other transactions as a buyer and which has never caused me any problems. I also verified my identity by providing documents and in my email I received (several times, since I tried more than once) confirmation of the data update. But on my eBay dashboard the error remains, with the ''threat'' of further blocks if I don’t update by April.
How can I fix this? Thanks a lot!

OP8 months agoI see that other users after me had the same problem, which I hope they managed to solve.
I confirm that after changing the payment method and waiting for the automatic unlock, the funds were credited to the account and I was able to transfer them to my bank account without any trouble.
Frustrating to wait and try so many methods, but it gets resolved.
After a few more sales, the funds come in regularly without having to wait anymore.

·8 months agoThank goodness there’s someone who takes the trouble to come back to the community to say they solved it and how; practically no one does that, everyone asks — some even demand it — and then they disappear.
Thanks

·10 months agoI’m fighting this controversial situation too, and it’s really annoying. Annoying because in 2025 these problems should not even exist; they should be a prehistoric memory. But apparently that’s not the case.
Alternatively, I think there’s always Amazon to entrust with sales to. Since on EBay you can’t work.
That said. I find myself in the above situation having linked a checking account with a positive balance and am waiting for these mythical micro credits.
What can I say? If I sell something and can’t withdraw the money, I will transparently inform customers that I can’t ship the goods because of this system.

·10 months agoThe current account or card with IBAN must have the same account name as the ebay account. They must allow direct debits (bill domiciliation) and be able to send and receive bank transfers, even of just a few cents, from abroad.

As a new seller, you’ll have to ship quite a lot before you can receive the funds.

·10 months agoDon’t sell anything on ebay if you think you can decide the sales methods and the related terms yourself, because you risk burning your name and ending up blacklisted even before you’ve finalized a sale.
The ebay platform is definitely quite complex, with rather a "substantial" set of rules; its operating dynamics are not that user friendly, and learning them takes time.
Best wishes and good luck.

·10 months agoIf you think eBay is complicated or problematic, it’s because you haven’t used Amazon to sell yet, which is definitely more demanding and complex, definitely against third-party sellers.
Anyway... best of luck!

OP2 years agoI finally solved it, I think, simply by changing bank accounts and linking another one to it. Verified by entering the two micro credits. Thanks for the help!

·1 year agoHi, basically when you changed bank account did the red message disappear, or did the message stay and it got unlocked according to the instructions you had received?
I have the same problem as you.
I’m a new seller, I made a sale but I have “funds on hold”.
I tried with 2 bank accounts and even with my current one I get the “funds on hold” message with an expected release date of October 13.

·1 year agodid you happen to solve it? same situation, I always get the red message.
in the meantime I made my first sale with funds blocked until December 7 (but it says the block is because I'm a new seller and not because of the card issue). I also received the micro-charge of 0.01 euro

·1 year agohi, did you manage to fix it? I'm having the same problem, it asks for bank details verification but I don't receive any email telling me that the verification is in progress. Besides, today is Saturday and I should ship a package, but then I wouldn't want to be unable to transfer the balance if the prepaid card I linked isn't accepted..the card has an IBAN linked to my PayPal account and I entered it as a bank account even though I don't have a bank account, but they told me it was fine, but now support isn't replying to me anymore'

·2 years agoIf there are no funds in the checking account, eBay can't make the microcharge that allows you to validate the account, and so eBay doesn't register it as "valid".

OP2 years agoSo would it be enough for me to load an amount into my checking account, authenticate, and wait for the micro-charge to be withdrawn? Doing that will unlock everything?

·2 years agoGood morning,
but does your card have an IBAN??
Kind regards.
thenotoriousivan
OP2 years agoHello,
sure. When I go to verify the details, I’m asked to enter the IBAN associated with the card, where my name is also shown. After entering the IBAN, it initially tells me the details have been updated successfully (and I also get the confirmation email) - but when I open the sales panel, the red error message is still there, and we’re back to square one.
The alternative method for verification is to upload a bank statement, and I could do that too, but I wouldn’t understand what the difference would be since the bank account is the same and I’ve already verified it.
My concern is that, assuming that on March 20th (or earlier, when the buyer receives my item) the funds are unlocked for me, I might then have problems moving the funds to my account since it keeps giving me this kind of error? It’s not even possible to speak to an operator; I just want a bit of peace of mind about this matter. I’m fine waiting until the funds are unlocked, but being prevented from taking legitimate actions is really not okay with me
