I came across a case where a buyer opened a return request attaching a seemingly artificial/manipulated photo to support the order dispute.
After I pointed out the obvious inconsistencies in the image and asked for further proof, the return case was immediately closed by the buyer, who then changed their version of events.
I’m reporting this because I recommend that all sellers carefully check the images received in disputes, especially when they show unnatural elements, inconsistent details, or anomalies typical of images generated/edited with AI.
Always keep:
screenshot of the case;
conversations;
original images sent by the buyer;
tracking and shipping documentation.
I also recommend immediately reporting suspicious behavior or refund requests supported by unreliable evidence to eBay.
Paying attention to these cases is important to protect honest sellers and the platform itself.
